Poetry by Brian37 (poems by an atheist)

I post all over the web, but I want a back up in case my computer or one particular website goes down.

I have decided to edit this post because I do not like giving people the wrong impression. I cannot read Shakespeare to save my life. I just remember this one line from act 5 scene 5 and put my own spin on it. I've had to explain this over and over so here I decided to put that in this post so there is no more presuming what I know or don't know. But the plot of MacBeth is the old lesson, you can have everything and nothing at all at the same time. And how did all that cruelty serve you in the end? But I do not like play summeries calling him a Nihisist, because it is possible to not do what he did, and accept life as being finite, and sitll have morals without religion. 

 

NEW EDIT 9/19/22 I got pissed at myself that I was scared to read MacBeth, so tonight, I forced myself to read it online. Now mind you, I did not understand it line for line, but basically Macbeth was an assdhole who murdered his way to the top, and did not believe the 3 witches prophcies. He murdered Duncan and had Banquo murdered. Banquo's ghost haunts Macbeth. And made the grave mistake of attacking McDuff's family and killing them(If I am reading this correctly) But Lady MacBeth has a guilty conscience and kills herself, upon finding out Macbeth basically says that life is not worth living and he should go down with a fight anyway, but refuses to fight  Macduff face to face and Macduff kills him as the hero. ( I SERIOUSLY read the entire play every line, tonight.  I even know where the famous line "double double, toil and trouble". comes from. The three witches, basically saying "look out Macbeth" your ass is in trouble. 

So basically the moral of the play, don't be a fucking asshole when trying to get to the top, or "the bigger they are the harder they fall". Reminds me of the movie Scarface and all the shitty things Tony did to get to the top and all for not. But Sosa in that case was not a good guy either.

Told by the credulous, full of sound and fury

 I would think that you

 I would think that you would be a huge Trump supporter. You are the one always bitching about the "race to the bottom". Trump is the only candidate in my lifetime to suggest substantially reducing the unskilled labor pool (thus reducing competition for and raising wages for low skilled jobs) along with draconian increases in tariffs to make building factories over seas less viable. It is everything you have claimed should be our goals.

not to mention the striking similarities in rhetotical style between brian and trump. both of them formulate an argument equally well.

It is one thing
To rightfully blast
Religious claims
That lead to violence

But the unarmed
Who are harmless
Do not deserve
Presumption of guilt

You handcuffed a teen
Because of his name
The tone of his skin
Are you insane?

Do not hand me
It was out of safety
You know what you did
And you should be ashamed

Ban chemistry classes
You might as well
Some innocent teen
Might make poison

That tourch in the sky
The crowned lady holds
Words of inclusion
Not xenophobia

I'll be the first
With biting words
To attack absurd claims
And and acts of violence

I fear not to question
Nor to offend
Yet incumbant to know
The diffferenece between rights and claims

The Boller hats
Replaced with badges
Handcuffed the rape victim

In my hometown
I know of several
Computer repare shops
With piles of scrap circuts

If every thing
That is electronic
Is a potential bomb
Investigate them too

If no investments
Were held by Un
No military
Would protect him

Humans argue
Of gods and guns
Political isms
We fall for them

The plane takes off
The same way
First class or coach
Our destination the same

50 million
On average per year
Meet the reaper
In all sorts of ways

Ebola and famine
Stillborn, old age
Hurricanes and tornados
War and street gangs

Castro and Pontiff
Bush and Obama

Are all finite

First off moron, Trump is out for himself, no one else. Secondly he is running for a party that says fuck the poor and suports doing nothing but more trickle up economics. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

From the rightful skeptic

The fallacy

You can't know either way

 

It misses the point

If you addmit

Your current position

Is "off" or "empty"

 

Why do some rightful skeptics

Have a problem

With putting "agnostic"

In front of "atheist"?

 

For me at least

In a strict semantic context

"Technically" only

The future hasn't happened

 

So "we cant know for sure"

While true

Still does not incorporate

Probability or likelyhood

 

I can only see myself

Going back to religion

Through some sort of trauma

Or illness 

 

But in my lucid state

With Hawkins rightfully saying

"A god is not required"

Why dwell on it?

 

Pele had no puppet strings

Making the volcano blow

I give no favor or reprieve

To popularity or tradition

 

Occham jumps in

With his simple blade

"Which is more likely"

Destroying myths nicely

 

The probability of a deity

Is flettingly unlikely

So much so

It's wiser to consider

Our imaginiations

Producing false comfort

 

To that rightful skeptic

To refer to the future

A famous coach

It was an indirect result of the death of Knute Rockne that lead to the technology of the Douglas Civilian airliner. Knute gave rise to the leged of honoring George Gipp who died at the age of 25 from health problems which is why we sometimes even today hear "Win one for the Gipper".  Longtime actor and future president Ronald Reagan played George Gipp in a movie. 

It was simply neat for me to finally learn what "DC" meant as far as modle names for planes. No, it did not mean "Washington DC".

Tis still the idea

Panders to fear

 

Hyper nationalist

Blames everyone else

China, Mexico

Points to the East

 

But long before

Vince McMahon

Long before 

His Jerry Springer plan

 

The Orwellian network

On the far right

Was using double speak

To allow him to rise

 

Pay no attention

To real history

The Whiskey Rebellion

That did not succeed

 

Ammon and Cliven

Are just spoiled brats

Hypocritical imbiciles 

Who cry free market

 

Others of ilk

Who have farmland too

Did not support

Their stupid move

 

The yellow pills

Wear monicles 

In droves they worship

The Orange Julius 

 

Now Ted and Jeb

Are crying foul

For the monster their party

Allowed to rise to power

The buzz then silence

The crackle of lightening

On then off

And puff of smoke

 

The finality plauged you

To ponder thus

The cosmic windsheid

We're splattered upon

 

The torrent spirals 

Churn the Atlantic

Brief calm between

The shifting dirrections

 

Stumbling buzz

To the neon blue

The crackle and pop

And singe of smoke

 

Thy bystanders

Watch in horror

As our buzz

Ends up in silence

 

As mighty

As the hurricane is

It so as well

Will meet an end

 

Your skepticism

My dear Emily

Was justified

But not complete.

 

I wonder now

If buzzing today

If you'd still cling

Just in case

 

That evil pulpit

It seems to me

Needlessly scared you

Yet the doubt still grew

When one claims

They are special

By mere proxy

Of superflous label

 

When one claims

I offer kindness

As if others

Could not

 

When one argues

Their traditions

When they argue

Their old confectiions 

 

The reality is

None want to face

We occupy 

The same place

 

The same dot

Sagan points out

Much older than

Our tribal boughts 

 

No such thing

As a perfect religion 

It is not a cure

To human's divisions

 

All have sects

That compete

Within the same labes

They dont agree

 

No such thing

As a religious cure

Only humans

Who ignore

 

A separate species

We are not

Silly to me

To argue over

 

Religion, if not all

Still has the downside

Of far too many

Chasing utopias

 

Impossible utopias 

That will never exist

And far to often end

With deadly results

 

No such thing

As a perfect religion

A cure for humanity

Never has been

Doomsday fatalism

Your childish tantrums

And get rid of them

 

Rivers of blood

Is all they produce

Your tribal books

Human trash we're reduced

 

Religion is

Trying to replace

The telescope

With a kaliedoscope

 

You'd have me believe

You'd have me swallow

Triabal gang manuals

That lead to the gallows

 

Then have the nerve

To rail against me

When I tell you

Our real history

 

I am not in want

Of weapons or war

For simply saying

There is no more

 

You take this as doom

But I do not

I simply say

This is all we've got

We can imagine

To accept Shakespeare

And the words of Sagan

 

To fret over fancy

To kill over antiquity

To die protecting ignorance

The ultimate absurdity

 

I don't want you dead

Meaningless

A super Red Giant

Looks at the puny

In utter defiance 

 

1, 708 Solar Radii

1.5 billion miles

In diameter 

Makes our sun cry

 

5 billion times

The mass of the sun

If swapped out 

"Jupiter you're done"

 

Billions of stars

In our galaxy alone

Hundreds of billions

In our universe known

 

And old fantasms 

Pester us still

Morbid tribalism

Excuses to kill

 

Scuti cares not

Nor Canis Majoris

About our outpost
