Atheism and religion in the news X

Science Avenger takes on D’Souza
Another blogger takes D’Souza to task.
I am really starting to believe that Dinesh D'Souza doesn't understand what a "delusion" is, or what it means for something not to exist. His incredibly idiotic arguments against atheism have been pushing me in that direction for quite a while, as he constantly dodges the issue of whether or not gods exist to make unsupported assertions about the pleasant social effects he imagines result from religion.

In his essay "Disenchantment," from Philosophers Without Gods: Meditations on Atheism and the Secular Life, University of Sheffield philosopher David Owens worries about the problems that future neuro-enhancements will pose.

Las Vegas used to be a lucrative haunt for Annie Lobert, a $500-a-day escort girl, and Heather Veitch, a highly-remunerated stripper. Now the vivacious double act patrol the city’s neon-lit streets with a dramatically different mission - to save souls rather than sell their bodies.
