It is often stated by the theists that people need God to live good and fulfilled lives. I think that we do not, and it’s a good thing too…if we truly relied on a being that didn’t exist, we’d really be in dire straights. But getting to the point…

Subject: why bother
Date: Tue, 2007-07-24 09:43if there is no god, why bother expending the time writing against the belief in god. it just seems like a waste of time. maybe it is just for fun and socializing with like minded people--i can see that if that is the reason. Not unlike some of my friends when I was in high school. on occassion we would muse on the existance of some higher power. others belief in god doesn't threaten me in the least, so I let them believe what they believe without having the need or occassion to bash or insult their beliefs. that seems to be the rational response--what are yopur thoughts?
Jesus fortold in the Old Testament--yea, right
Submitted by Mikayla_Starstuff on July 12, 2007 - 9:55pm.While I was still a Christian believer, and still living at home with my parents, I had access to a ‘Messianic Jewish’ (read: Christian Jew) version of the New Testament. This had a list of supposed Old Testament prophesies that had been fulfilled by Jesus as the messiah. I was intrigued by this list of prophecies and hoped to bolster and confirm my faith by looking each of them up and confirming them for myself. I was very disappointed and disillusioned when I did this—even as a believer I couldn’t honestly go up to a non-believer and say ‘such and such bible passage confirms that Jesus was the messiah’. In fact, I was even a bit embarrassed and concerned, though it would be a long time before I would get the courage to express my honest doubt.
