Ok this belongs in the troll forum... I have to say that the people on here have the ugliest, most horrid avatars on the internet. Not to say that the avatars diminish the wonderful debate that occurs on a regular basis on these here forums, but damn, some people have some ugly avatars. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings, but AGGGGHHHHH they are difficult to look at. Maybe if people said where they got these awful pictures I would feel better about it, maybe ill join the club and get a hideous avatar. Seriously though, some of them are about as pleasant to look at as it is to smell a diaper full of diarrhea and curry. Ok im done now.

Why would this deserve troll status? Even if we didnt give a shit less what you thought of the avatars on this board, it is not the most important subject on this site. You are venting about a trivial matter, but we all do that. Big dieal.
This is the same as when I bitch about how bad the Redskins have been since the 80s. It may make me feel good to bitch about it, but others couldnt give a shit less about the NFL.
It's ok to bitch about trivial things, we all do it. But just dont treat it like a national security issue.

Man.. ya know what I hate? People who don't have avatars that bitch about other people's avatars. AAAAAGH!! It's like a person who purposely doesn't vote just so they can have the right to bitch no matter who becomes president! It's like a man with no arms telling me that I couldn't box to save my life! I hate usernames that have an unpleasant vowel-consonant ratio. Not naming anyone specifically, here.
i can kinda see where the OP is coming from. personally, i'm more interested in what someone has to say than the picture to the left of their words but a lot of people want to be anonymous/semi-anonymous on here and another handful just have creative stuff. i think those factors combined contribute to many more avatars that are not actual pictures on this site as opposed to other forums.

Reading this, I hope the post I made before wasn't interpreted as a serious attack on anyone. I tried to mark the facetiousness by way of a wink, but those don't always do the trick.
So to clarify, I was just poking fun at the original post (hence my borrowing of some of its phrases), so I hope no one saw it as an attack.
I used to have my real picture as my avatar, but I'm an ugly bastard, so this is probably for the best. =)

Actually, being a web designer, I find alot of this forum very unappealing.
The avatar problem could be fixed easily by limiting avatar size to 64x64 or a similar size. Similarly, the "GOLD MEMBER" stuff should be in another location rather than on top of the avatar to spread out the garish ugliness. Better yet, the GOLD and SILVER MEMBER things should be replaced by a change in color of the member's name, or better yet, a small graphical indicator in the lower right hand corner of their posts.

But I have to say, some avatars in this forum are pretty horrid. Magilum the moderator's avatar is pretty bizarre. And then there's LosingStreak06. I hate your avatar LosingStreak! It's annoying the hell out of me.
