VFR undertakes statewide secular communication effort (VA)

We at Virginia Freethought Renaissance (VFR) are enthusiastic about what we are doing! We're attempting to unite most of the secular groups throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia for communicative purposes. We're at: http://www.vafr.org

Presently we have 8 Associate Member groups representing about 600 individuals. Not bad for a start! We've linked RRS on the home page and on our links page. Of the 10 people in the Associate Members/Recent Events photo, 5 are RRS members.

The pages are not fully completed, however; we welcome suggestions/comments. We are developing a footprint so that other States/regions can do the same.

Miracles don't exist. "Miracle" is a word given to a preposterous event that a theist considers dogmatically advantageous. Def. - Ecclesiastical sensationalism.

check out vafr.org !

I am working with nullesdeus on this project as well.

When looking around VA there are so many wonderful secular resources yet little to unify then or even any efforts to communicate between groups.  This is where the idea for this project originated...

We are working on creating a supportive, friendly, energetic venue for various groups to come together, learn about one another, and share resources and ideas.  We plan to do this through the website which contains directory information, and soon - an e-newsletter and calendar of events.  (The site has only been up for a few days and will be expanding within the coming months.)  Also, we're planning a minimally annual event... a mini-conference, per say.... where members from all groups can join, hear a speaker, and gather socially afterwords.

If you're in VA, check out the site... perhaps you can find a group in your area you didn't know about or maybe you group is interested in being included.  Not in VA?  Nullesdeus and I would still love your comments.  Also, if your interested in doing something like this in your area, we'd be happy to share "lessons learned."

Finally...Statewide Organization!

Shelley, & Nulles,

I'm so impressed with what you two have put together so far. I'm SO proud to know you both, & to count you as my friends. You're both amazing visionaries. Congratulations. The new site looks excellent. I have a feeling that your proactive approach, & your enlightened perspective will  catalyze real, substantial, positive, change here in the Commonwealth. Who knows? Perhaps your "model" of organization will also send ripples of rational hope around the world, as well. Folks like you, & our RRS friends, are truly changing the world...for the better!

I'm looking forward to working with all of you more in the future. I'm so sorry that my classes, & other social justice activism projects, have been taking so much of my time lately, but please know that I'm here if you need me. Plus, I can hardly wait to meet more of our great RRS advocates/responders, & chat with the hundreds of new, interesting, non-delusional, folks we are continually meeting on a near daily basis. You all make life fun, interesting, hopeful, & worth living. The Renaissance HAS begun, (& it's happening faster than I ever imagined). Ha.

Thanks for caring, you 2.

Your biggest fan...

Hillcat
