Easter, AKA Zombe Jesus Day

(The following is a re-post from my philosophy/politics blog.)

I've been toying with the idea of doing Zombie Jesus re-enactments on Sunday. Is that crossing the line? Should we refrain from mocking the Christian holiday that worships the raising of their undead savior? I want to know what you think. I'm also interested in suggestions for how the re-enactments should be carried out. My hubby has a Jesus costume from when we both went as gods last Halloween (I was the IPU). We could have a blood-wine and spaghetti brains feast... I think I'm liking that one... Anyone else got an idea?

OOOOH.... like Halloween,

OOOOH.... like Halloween, but Easter.  I like it.

You have to get Easter Eggs in this somehow, because the colored eggs symbolize the um... multicultural invitation... (yeah, that sounds good) that Jesus made when he died on the cross that they stuck in a rabbit hole.

Anyway, in all seriousness, private property is private property.  Don't do anything on church property.  Keep it where you know you have full rights and permission.

In one of the narratives, there are angels guarding the tomb when the girls show up.  Instead of angels, maybe they are zombie servants of Undead Jesus.  They were the guards from one of the other narratives, and then Zombie Jesus ate their brains, and commanded them to wait for the women, so that they could pass out easter baskets filled with icky brains that look kind of like eggs...

Or, maybe Zombie Jesus couldn't find any human brains... all he could find was a stupid rabbit, so he ate the rabbit brains, and the rabbit was transformed by the love of Zombie Jesus, so that instead of taking a shit, he made colored eggs come out of his ass.  To this day, the Easter Bunny roams the earth, shitting eggs as testament to the love of Zombie Jesus.

I dunno.  There's so much you could do with it.

LOL

LOL Hambydammit! I was planning on locating the re-enactment part in a public park out of sight from any churches. I don't want to encroach on their space, but I don't want to hide in my tiny back yard, either. I love the zombie Easter Bunny idea - bewitched into egg-laying - and the wraiths guarding the tomb.

If you knew someone who was 60 years old who believed that Santa was real, how much sympathy should you have for them?

Crossing the line would mean physically assaulting them or creating laws that prevented them from believing such absurdities.

They have the right to believe in fiction, and you have the right to call a duck a duck. If they can't handle that, that is their problem, not yours.

We had such a great time for the war on easter two years ago.

I do it throughout the year now.

Here's to hoping that perhaps one day my crucified bunny pic finds it way to your house. It looks better in color. lol.

Well, I'm just ashamed of

Well, I'm just ashamed of everybody here.  Tarring all zombies with the Jesus brush is the height of prejudice and it's been happening in this country for far too long.  Most zombies have no interest in immortal souls and would in fact be happy with substandard brains that we could easily afford to let go.  I am literally sick to wake up every morning knowing that I still live in a country where guidance counselors and aging rock stars are allowed to walk free while honest, hardworking zombies amble aimlessly and hungrily about the countryside.

Don't forget all those folks in the 90s who sunk fortunes into internet cafes so that people would be able to access the interwebz from outside of their homes...

Saviour...on a stick

I always thought Easter was when Jesus comes out of his tomb and sees his shadow we have 6 more weeks of winter...or the apocolypse, I always get those confused...

I figured most of them would be guidance counsellors by now.  That isthe natural progression.

Don't forget the true

Don't forget the true meaning of Easter: That Jesus Christ gave up his weekend to save mankind. Otherwise we'd all forced to be tortured extremely for all eternity by our loving God.

Taxation is the price we pay for failing to build a civilized society. The higher the tax level, the greater the failure. A centrally planned totalitarian state represents a complete defeat for the civilized world, while a totally voluntary society represents its ultimate success. --Mark Skousen
