I'm a hardcore, screaming evangelical atheist, just to the right of Dawkins, philosophically, and to the left of Hitchens politically. No one should ever be made to apologize for being rational, nor marginalized for failure to pay lip service to the delusion d'jor...
Rationality and puberty hit me at about the same time in life, and I didn't so much as reach an epiphany of disbelief, as much as I realized that I had never really beleaved it in the first placeThat was almost 40 odd (some of them very odd) years ago.
I've been in combat, (as a medic) there was always at least one atheist in my foxhole. I worked as a Firefighter, I never once called on supernatural aid to pull my cookies from the fire (literally). I'm an ethical, rational and well rounded human being, father, grandfather and husband. I require no fear of hell or promise of heaven to make it so.

I had some pre-conditioning, having lived in various other cold climes... ( I was running a drug rehab center in Wisconsin when I decided to moter-vate to the land of the moose and beaver.)
Besides... what's wrong with Saskatchewan... its... well it's... flat. (You can watch your dog run away from home for 3 days...)
But on the other hand, we just had the first person shot by police in about 20 years. It's been a hundred years since a policeman died in the line of duty here. We got burglarized once... 10 years ago, by one of our kids buddys...he stole a bike and some tobacco...(We never before or since lock our doors)
All in all, it has it's charm.
