Tanzania to hunt down witchdoctors.
It's good to see some rational action happening in Africa. Impoverished, uneducated parts of the world have more of an excuse for being susceptible to superstition than western cultures with information available to easily.

Tanzania shields albinos from witchdoctors
Posted
The President of Tanzania has announced measures designed to protect albinos from witchdoctors.
President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete says police have been ordered to hunt down the witchdoctors involved in 19 murders over the past year.
Officials say the witchdoctors have been murdering albinos to use their body parts in magic potions designed to bring people good luck.
It is estimated there are about 150,000 albinos living in Tanzania.

I think in addition to catching these crooks some education wouldn't go amiss.
I read that and thought "Huh... didnt know 150,000 white people lived in Tanzania" ^.^
What Would Kharn Do?
I don't think it'd be that simple. The belief in magic and muti(special medicines, sometimes made with human parts, that serve as everything from love to invincibility potions) is prevalent in the culture.Even here in South Africa, where the education is probably better than the rest of Africa, belief in vodoo and magic is very strong in the majority of the population. Criminals pay thousands for songomas(witch doctors) to make them invincibilty muti's before a dangerous job, like robbing a cash in transit truck.Even though these criminals are often killed by security forces, their comrades simply reason the killer had a stonger muti, and pay more to the sangoma next time.
Like many irrational beliefs, these still thrive in the presence of education that show them false.
