Evolution Myths

I realise that this is more suited to the evolution forum (and it's already in there) but thought it might be good enough for general discussion so I'm putting it here.  I shall accept the judgment and wrath of moderators for my double-posting

New Scientist have recently run an article outlining some myths on evolution which gives them a full explanation/rebuttal.  While the original article is only available to subscribers, all the myths are dealt with in their evolution special.  This can be found at:

www.newscientist.com/evolutionmyths

I thought this might be of some interest

Read it

Yeah I saw that on RD.net yesterday. It is an excellent article with links and answers to almost all of the myths, misconceptions, and basic facts involving evolution.

Evolution myth #1:

Evolution myth #1:  Evolution contradicts God.

hoo-boy, the church really fucked up with this one.  little do they know, god DOES believe in evolution, and like any other point he feels strongly about, he will make YOU believe it too, motherfucker.

he will make you believe it all the way to the fucking bank.

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."

A lot more in depth and provides sources.

Yeah they actually reference that site in many of their links.

Evolution myths

These 'nuts' seem to miss the most basic elements of the question;   1)  Theology and science are two (2) different  (un-alike) studies.   2)  Darwin did not write about  how things SHOULD BE;  he wrote about, and base his theory on how things ARE!   3)  Leave the name Darwin out and every test, criteria and experiment since 1859 has proven evolution is correct.   4) Theologist do not like evolution being correct,  Then theologist should provide scientific proof of god or inteligent design or stay the hell out of science.   5)  Scientists don't try to tell people how to believe.

   6)  Theologist should keep thier  leap of faith out of science.  Or prove scientificly  otherwise.
