Another Halmark moment.

The past week has been depressing for me. With the hype about "Expelled" and the Pope's visit, I really should avoid watching the news.

But, it is nice to know that online communities are here so that I can escape the theism of the masses.  Websites like this are my oasis, and I can't stress this enough. It is not just this website, but all the skeptic, pro-science, humanist and atheist sites, who continue to destigmatize non-belief.

I know what communities like this have done for me and continue to be a pillar of support for non-believers. It is up to all of us to raise our voices and to support all those who know life is not magical, or superstitious, but wonderful without all the ancient myth.

RRS, Infidel Guy, Jake and The Atheist Network, Downey, Dawkins, Hitchens, American Atheists, Internet Infidels..........far to many to mention here, have all grown to an unstoppable pace and it is up to every poster and every activist and every website, to keep this trend growing.

I know what communities like this have done for me in keeping my sanity, and I know we can win, long term, if we continue to challenge hocus pokus and absurdites.

Thank you for being there for me. ALL OF YOU.

Here Here

Well said Brian. Like Carl Sagan said, "Science is a light in the dark." I would also apply reason and skepticism, but together with like minded evidentiary realists forums such as this are an Oasis away from the retardgentsia.

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” Yoda

My style is simple, magic is not real, so I see no need to dance around if a city or person existed when they can't defend the hocus pocus.

BUT, having said that, it does take all styles. It takes the quite library types, to the deconstructionists, to the magic slayers like me.

It takes all of us, I am just one person.

Thanks, Brian.

I was having a generally bad day as well. I ruined a pair of shorts, my wife was angry at me because I didn't hear my phone ring (it was on vibrate, AND I was doing the dishes she asked me to do while she was gone), and work is really starting to crush me due to deadlines and my inability to get something to work correctly (or maybe even at all). Various other things are bothering me right now too. But I read your post, and it reminded me of all my friends, even if I don't post here much. Yes, even like a family to me! I appreciate that a lot.

In your honor, I have cracked open a bottle of really dry Shiraz, cut a couple sizable pieces of really good cheese (one brie, one very danish blue), got a big chunk of crusty baguette, and cut 3 pieces of a dry sausage (sopressata). To your good health!*

To everyone in the Pittsburgh, PA area, if you're anywhere near Greenfield, you should come on over and my wife and I will gladly share!

Note: This is not the same as symbolically cannibalizing your body. I in no way endorse the eating of other peoples' flesh or drinking other peoples' blood, whether real or symbolic. . .unless you're stranded on an island with only one other person, and all you have is a bottle of barbecue sauce and a wetnap.
