what the FUCK is up with kosovo???

well, more like what the fuck is up with the USA?  (as if that isn't a question most people ask every couple of hours.)  you know, i'm usually pretty good at pinpointing the empire's hidden agenda, but the government's got me on this one.  i know it doesn't have anything to do with the kosovars' "right to liberty" or some such bullshit, since we do almost nothing for the kurds, basques, palestinians, etc.

recognizing an independent kosovo?  what does that solve?  and how is it any of the US's fucking business to begin with????  now our numbnuts stunt is about to sweep milosevic's supporters back into power.  whenever a powerful nation meddles with the nationalist agendas of other nations or would-be nations, they create a breeding ground for fascism.

i wonder if it's a case of sheer embarassment: our nation was founded by separatists and so we must support separatists every now and then to save face.  a similar thing happened with the vietnamese struggle against the french.  ho chi minh was clever enough to word the vietnamese declaration of independence very similarly to our own.  thus we were sort of shamed into supporting them though we really didn't want to and we only did it with words.

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."

well, i'll tell you what's NOT feasible: the empire is doing it because they believe in the kosivars' "right" to an independent state.

meanwhile, the tibetans, kurds, basques, etc. are waiting in line...
