Impure thoughts of atheist women
The ceaseless flow of intellectual discourse of atheist women on this sight is truly progress towards social equality of the genders in the arena of rationalism which previously was felt soley to be the bastion of patriarchy.........screeeeeecccchhhh!!! (the sound of the mental record needle scratching the LP to the next song)..... Man does she look so fucking hot!!!!!!!
I am curious if atheist women on this site are offended by the subconscious wolf-whistling while also acknowledging their intellect. I think a guy would have to endlessly flagellate himself to rid himself of any thoughts of physical attraction. Our evolutionary baggage hard wires us to think this way. Are you offended if someone thinks you look hot?

No. Worship of the mysterious female is the first step down a slippery slope of misery for everybody. Men and women are both brilliant and stupid in turns, after all (and a lot of the time, it's purely by accident). Ordinarily, I'd say awe indicated respect, but there's something condescending about males being in awe of females. I can't put my finger on it, but it's almost like the opposite of respect to put a woman on a pedestal.

In my opinion, any woman who finds that offensive is weird and probably have some... Problems in her past...
Although I can see some finding it ANNOYING after a while, especially if they're married or something and have a problem with people who think it's funny or cute to flirt like that.
About the atheist part of them... I'm not sure that influences things one way or the other on this subject.
I'm sure it's no surprise to the chicks that are hot that they're hot.

I don't think it's almost like it. I think it is the opposite of respect to put a woman on a pedestal. I haven't got a fully formed essay ready to trot out for this topic, but I've noticed a historical correlation between pedestals for women and societal prohibitions on what good women ought to do (or more importantly, what they ought not do) to be worthy of the pedestal.

actually I think people who go overboard fall into 2 camps...
1) they are socially akward...and lack the skills to suduce.

2)they are doing it to offend or shock....the reasons for this are...they dislike you and want you to be repulsed or they want to dominate and control the situation by throwing you off gaurd.

OK so this goes all the way back to the original question, which I think was served up that women would answer, but I'll address the other part.
Yes, we are "hard-wired" but I think of it as just plain hard-on.
What you term "evolutionary baggage" I tend to think of as natures necessary insurance policy for people.
