Bump

It's evolution in action. All species are heading toward the day when they're just heads. You'll see.

what graphics card do you have? the minimum specs for a graphics card are pretty low for a recent game. I have a radeon X1650 pro and I meet the minimum specs. if you don't know the model of your GFX card then google 'techpowerup GPU-Z' download it and it will tell you all the tech details for your card.

minimum requirements for spore:

I had Civ IV but uninstalled it. Even on the easiest setting it was way, way, way, way, way WAYYYYYYYY too difficult.

Yeah one thing people say about Civ IV, unless you really play and practice it is really hard and not much fun.

I tend to suck at games and

I tend to suck at games and have not much patience - I won't keep playing stuck on the same level for a week. I've found most first person shooter games I can't come anywhere near beating the first level. I prefer the "total war" series of games - at least they have cheat codes.

Not really. At least, not according to PZ Meyers. (I trust him in that judgement.)

From the trailers, it seems to be a combination of Flow, Black and White, Civilization, and Starcraft. It might be fun, might not. I suspect it'll get boring after a while (like Flow and Black and White). But I might get it.

The game will have a sort of

The game will have a sort of 'pseudo-evolution' mechanic in it. Each generation of creature you create get an extra pool of 'gene points' you can spend on buying them new stuff. Some of the points you can invest in the brain,  and when that gets big enough, you stop evolving your body parts and become civilized.

There are already almost

There are already almost 500,000 different species uploaded to the Spore server.

How many species of animals are on Earth right now? Figure we can top that before the full version is even released in Sept?

I was disappointed to see that too, especially since there's an osx version. Since it's EA I wouldn't hold my breath for a linux  version and theres no way I'm going to dual boot just to play some stupid game.

I have a 2 year old laptop with just an integrated graphics adapter, so really nothing special.  The trial itself said my graphics card wasn't up to par so the game wouldn't run, and won't even allow me to attempt to play it.  Nevermind, I'll keep the trial file anyway and play it on the desktop computer when I get around to repairing it.

I've been waiting for this game for years as well, I'm really looking forward to setting up an intergalactic UFC planet of sorts and throwing various alien species into hand to hand combat with each other.

Who will win?  Will the pink doggy style aliens (NSFW) http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-689194118682834081 (NSFW)  be able to beat a f*ck slug sensless?  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnUXnnH6sY0

I think so Smiling

On Electronic Arts:They are

On Electronic Arts:

They are the WORST videogame publisher of all time, as far as I know. It's really unfortunate that Maxis works through EA, but if they split off EA would probably buy them right back. When I purchased the complete version of the Spore Creature Creator I knew I was being ripped off. EA probably knows that this pie they've purchased is the kind of pie that everyone wants and won't care how crap a company they are.

Actually, Spore might be one of the only things keeping them afloat.

But I digress. Getting pass the vampire company and to the essentially shareware version of the game, I am still happy with it. It's 1/8th of everything I hope the full Spore game will be.
