RRS Team - Einstein@Home
I have created a Rational Response Squad team for Einstein@Home, which is a program that uses a computer's idle time to search for spinning neutron stars (i.e., pulsars) using data from the LIGO and GEO gravitational wave detectors. Please download BOINC, install it, provide the information it asks for, and when prompted for the address (or URL) of the project, enter "http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/" without quotes to get started searching for pulsars, and visit the RRS team page and click join and provide your login information (created during BOINC installation) if you're prompted to do so. To contribute to the project, just let the BOINC program run on your computer. The longer you let it run, the more tasks it can accomplish, which gets you credits (i.e., points). I've started us off with 3,327 credits. Please contribute to the search!

I just learned of the Rational Response Squad team for Folding@Home. This is similar to Einstein@Home, except it does various calculations on proteins to see how they fold and how they misfold to cause certain diseases. If you want to contribute to the project, just download the folding@home client, give it a username, and enter the number 79973 for the "team number."

There is also a:

site. It uses BOINC too.

Let's make a team there too.

Sweet dude. I'd join it, but I've already contributed a bunch under my own ID. Might as well keep going that way.
Yay PS3 for folding proteins while I sleep.

It doesn't matter under which name or team you do it, just do it
I'm surprised I found this thread so easily. As it happens, I did join the RRS team. Now I find that I've contributed about twice as much as everyone else on the team combined, not including what I contributed on my own before joining the team. Worse, I haven't noticed anyone else going up for months. C'mon slackers! Donate a few CPU hours to unlocking a potential cure for cancer, and other genetic disorders!

Good job, Vastet
I apologize for the slack on my end. My time contributing to these projects declined so imperceptibly that I really didn't notice the change. I will solve that little problem. Since making this thread, I switched to the Linux operating system, and I'm having some trouble getting the stuff working. I have worked around my problems in BOINC and now have an Einstein@Home task running. Folding@Home is being a bit of a bother though. I've solved the problem before, I just need to remember how I did it. Sooner or later, I'll have a folding task running

I keep trying to sign up to the Einstein at home group, and when it asks for the URL to link to I put this in: http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/team_display.php?teamid=9377
It keeps telling me it's unavailable... am I doing it wrong?

I just came back here to say something about that.
It seems that the original team got shutdown because it was inactive. I have created a new RRS team

Damn I'm still getting "This project is temporarily unavailable"

Maybe it took awhile to get the page up? Or possibly they were caching data at the time. When clicking the link below, I found the page linked below the link below.

So it's up. I don't have a system to put on Einstein@home or I'd test it further.

I have also been able to access the team page, before and after Brian said he couldn't. I don't know what the problem is.
Anyway, I finally got Folding@Home working again

Lol. I thought about looking for this post to bump it the other day. I sign in this morning and I find a spammer found it for me. What a lovely coincidence.
