why did the chicken(s) cross the road?
so, yeah... i met mattshizzle IRL yesterday. he showed me his new pimp ring and everything. on the turn into his town there were three chickens crossing the road... obviously trying to get the hell out of there. i don't blame them.
matt's neighborhood redefines small town america, let me tell you. although, an ice cream truck comes by regularly. that's pretty much it for excitement.

She can comfirm there's nothing to do here.
Hence the reason you have almost 6000 posts?
Oh, and you TOTALLY look like William Murderface in that picture. Learn to play bass guitar and I guarantee you that Dethklok (which is actually a real band) would take you on tour.
Your god's silence speaks loud and clear
Yeah, the internet's pretty much it.
The town I grew up in had a whopping 750 people, no internet, and three channels to watch for TV.
well matt's dad said the population was 800. i saw 8.
[edit: they only have one cop there, though. that's cool. without much else to do, i could get in all sorts of trouble. who am i kidding? i find plenty of time to get into trouble in DC.]
Technically a town of that size is considered a village.

Officially it's a "borough."
She did get to meet Miss Callie (the "not this shit again" cat.)

Nice. I thought you had social anxiety issues Matt, yet you still manage to meet ppl irl? Awesome.
Shelly is the first person I ever met irl from the internet.
I think Matt would look badass if he had a beard.
Thanks, whenever i watch metalocalypse now, i will think of you matt!
plus you've met one more person irl from the internet than me so your doing good!
Notice my FSM shirt?
Oh yeah, the pimp ring isn't new - had it about a year now.
I can see that with a mix of Jack Black in there too.
Don't knock your town too hard - I lived in a "town" of 400 for a good portion of my life. Actually, it was more of a collection of houses that thought itself bigger than it really was.

From the next largest town? I mean I though my place was small and Isolated in the great Canadian tundra when i was growing up, 3000 people and 1 hour to the nearest hospital or major town.....of 9000 people
The nearest city is Reading (pop about 75,000) - about 14 miles away. Not a place to go if you enjoy not getting shot and have no desire to buy illegal drugs though.

To quote Churchill, there is nothing more exhilarating than being shot at without result. That I can atest to....only once....and never more.
Kind of like the atheist version of American Gothic...
If only I where allowed to put photoshop on this computer.....I would so add the pitchfork to shelly and matt

Bah. All you big-city folk bragging about how big your city is. Feh.
When I was a kid, I grew up in a logging camp of 500 people. I graduated with 3 other people. The nearest town was an hour away by road, and it had a population of about 3,000. There was another town connected by road, but that was all -- we were on an island. The nearest city was 45 minutes away -- by plane. Of course, it did have almost 15,000 people, so it was a metropolis. And, it had a movie theater, at which I watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Y'all are a bunch of city slickers. Don't pretend you're not.
"Yes, I seriously believe that consciousness is a product of a natural process. I find that the neuroscientists, psychologists, and philosophers who proceed from that premise are the ones who are actually making useful contributions to our understanding of the mind." - PZ Myers
I left that town back in '86 (it was closing since the mining operation was closing), and I haven't really lived in a small town since then, been to Buenos Aires, Mendoza (both in Argentia), New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Calgary, Ottawa, London (UK) Belfast, Madrid and now living in Brampton (just 10 minutes outside of Toronto) Small town life was fine as a kid but as an adult I don't think I could handle it now, espeically with my personality. Although I will say this, it wasn't over religious there at all, yeah christmas and easter was a big thing, but it was more of a secular than religious in that town.
That's so cool, the photo of 2 atheist preachers .... Mary Magdalene and Jesus !
Small towns offer unique opportunities .... public office, raising chickens/goats/rabbits, fish farm, frog legs, pastry / pizza /spaghetti etc truck ..... umm just saying.
Love them open spaces .... yeah the city too.

What was it that John Melloncamp said ,"I was born in a small town and I can breathe,etc...,etc... Although I do live in Philly now,I was born in a small town in NJ,and I wish I was still there a lot of times,I guess because it was so clean there, compared to Philly.
Signature ? How ?
Note: This dude in the video lives in a freaking metropolis.

Since our thread is now about who grew up in biggest city, Hong Kong has 7,000,000 people (and is remarkably geographically small). I'll show you:
I think I can find my house in that picture.
"Physical reality” isn’t some arbitrary demarcation. It is defined in terms of what we can systematically investigate, directly or not, by means of our senses. It is preposterous to assert that the process of systematic scientific reasoning arbitrarily excludes “non-physical explanations” because the very notion of “non-physical explanation” is contradictory.

I'll have to update my picture - I've got a beard now.
Ok. I was under the impression that you grew up in Canada somewhere.
