Prayer brings down the price of gas

Clearly driving 10 billion less miles in May 2008 versus May 2007 had no effect at all.

Neither has driving 40 billion less miles in the last 7 months compared to last year.

It was the prayers!

I prayed to have religious

I prayed to have religious nuts use the post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy, and it happened! Behold the power of prayer!

"Anyone can repress a woman, but you need 'dictated' scriptures to feel you're really right in repressing her. In the same way, homophobes thrive everywhere. But you must feel you've got scripture on your side to come up with the tedious 'Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve' style arguments instead of just recognising that some people are different." - Douglas Murray

But so many prayed for god's will and guidance for the Bush bastard and he is such a good christian man (according to them) that prayer still had a hand in it.

Yeah, you are absolutely right. It all comes down to prayer in the end.

Interesting, though, how hundreds of people praying their hearts out could not stop their plane from smashing into a building but other folks were able to get a response out of god in the form of lower gas prices.

God does, except when helping someone to win an Oscar or football game, work in mysterious ways.

Guess its all just part of the master plan.

According to the White House Press secretary Dana Perrino  she didn't know if we fully deserve the credit.

Probably it was speculators have figured out how many days GW has left and realized the bottom was going to fall out on oil prices when he leaves. His lifting of the ban did nothing as Congress also has to change a law that  prevents the drilling.

It was the prayer. The soccer mom's all prayed that God would intervene so they could drive their SUVs again. Reduced consumption has nothing to do with it.

Our oil sheiks who art in Alberta

Far better to pray to Kevin R. Brown,  him and his fellow Albertans are sitting on more oil reserves then all of the middle east combined.

QUESTION:   Why is oil that is selling for  $150 per bbl today, effecting my pump price TODAY  when It can't get to my gas station for at least  six (6) months (180+ days)????

ignorance is Ms. Perrino's raison d' etre for being the White(wash) House Press secretary. The girl gets WW2, the Korean and Vietnam conflicts confused for crying out loud.

The recent downturn in gas

The recent downturn in gas prices started the same day the White House monkey announced he was lifting the ban on off-shore drilling.  We gotta remember, the monkey and satan had the oil companies write the energy policy a few years ago without any input from environmentalists or scientists.  They've been engineering this thing since before the little asswipe was in office.  Now the oil companies are using the drop to get the citizens to put pressure on congress to approve the lifting of the ban.  The oil companies have, I believe, more than half of the oil leases but want the rest.  They haven't even drilled on most of the leases they own, whining about the cost of drilling while making historically obscene profits.  They'll probably lower prices some more, maybe even down to around $3.50 in some areas.  The minute they either get what they want or don't get it, they jack the prices right back up there.

Gas prices were up over $4.70/gal here in California (the monkey doesn't like CA because we didn't vote for him) and are now down to $4.19 at some stations.  I expect it will be up over $5/gal by December, once the Oil companies see who the next prez will be.  With the government and just about everything else shrouded in secrecy now, it's next to impossible to know who's doing what but they're all complicit in it. Jeez, do I sound paranoid or what?  Really, though, the system is being manipulated and that's obvious when they change the gas prices the minute it's announced oil is increasing even though, as you said Jeffrick, the oil is six months away.   Announce oil is going down and it's six months before we see the price drop at the pumps.  Most company retail stations are hooked up by computer to the oil company and the company dictates what is going to be charged and when to raise it.  Oil will go up again sometime before the monkey gets evicted.

I always marvel at the way fundies will pursue with dogged determination any chance to prove they're just a bunch of superstitious primitives.  They claim dog listened to their prayers as long as the price goes down.  When the price goes up and their prayers are no longer being listened to they fall back on something like "dog is punishing us because gays are allowed to marry in California", nod knowingly and simply say dog works in mysterious ways and we can't fathom his ways because we're too stoopid.   BTW, didn't they start this crap after the prices began falling? I loved how that clown in the mid-west got the whole town out to pray for rain and later claimed dog answered their prayers after reports that an eigth of an inch fell somewhere in the state.

McCain scares the bejesus outta me.  He's a 72yo, reduced speed version of the monkey in the White House.  He still supports virtually all the failed policies of the current zoo running this country. I'm not thrilled with Obama either but he's probably the lesser of the two evils.  Also, I don't think he's as big a fundie as McCain is.

my understanding is that the oil companies charge you what it costs to replace the goods they just sold to you (with their profit margin of course). Here in New Zealand, we pay around  $11.25 US for a gallon of petrol (though we go by litres and its ~$2.10 per litre [0.264 gallons] and exchange rate is ~$0.72 NZ$ to US$ )

Your have a small error here, 1 NZD = .74 USD

1 gallon US = 3.7843 liters

$2.10 NZD/liter x 3.7843 = $7,95 NZD

$7.95 NZD = $5.89842 USD as rate is .73 to ,74 USD per New Zealand Dollars. You used the conversion rate wrong.

7.95 x . 74 = $5.90

Or from the converter:

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

7.95 New Zealand Dollar = 5.89842 US Dollar *Correct way*

7.95 US Dollar (USD) = 10.71515 New Zealand Dollar (NZD) *Wrong way*

You pay about $5.90 USD per US gal.

If the idea that speculators are to blame is true then that is the likely culprit. Between people driving less and the president lifting the presidential ban on drilling may have been considered an increase or future increase in supply.
