Dead Monster Washes Ashore in Montauk, NY.
What do you think, real or latex?
Before you say no, keep in mind this is a real creature, that went undiscovered:

Taxation is the price we pay for failing to build a civilized society. The higher the tax level, the greater the failure. A centrally planned totalitarian state represents a complete defeat for the civilized world, while a totally voluntary society represents its ultimate success. --Mark Skousen

I call fake.
There were two pictures taken from a distance, with the express purpose for IDing the creature. 'Someone' know 'someone' that took and is letting it rot in the nearby woods. The first 'someone' cannot be persuaded to get the creature or point experts to where the creature is.
more likely
I would also say that your picture of the giant squid is probably fake (or not a real creature) as well. Many samples of those creatures that have been hauled aboard vessels with weight-supporting nets have fallen apart under their own weight. Chances that one would hold under the pressure of a hook or cable... unlikely.
If I have gained anything by damning myself, it is that I no longer have anything to fear. - JP Sartre
The entity in picture 2 appears to be made out of plastic or some other synthetic material. The reasons for this are obvious:
-It's rigid. See how they're holding the tentacles? Except for one, it looks like they're in some sort of weird rigor mortis. Real tentacles don't display that property
-The surface is all wrong. The top part jutting out atop the eye looks as though its been slotted on top. It's clearly not attached by any biological mechanism. It appears to be a pink tarp.
-The eye. Seriously. Look at the damn thing. It looks like no eye possessed by any creature, certainly not a dead one.
"Physical reality” isn’t some arbitrary demarcation. It is defined in terms of what we can systematically investigate, directly or not, by means of our senses. It is preposterous to assert that the process of systematic scientific reasoning arbitrarily excludes “non-physical explanations” because the very notion of “non-physical explanation” is contradictory.

What a colossal squid really looks like out of the water
The quality of this mock up looks like the work of one of my favorite ebay sellers. His ebay name is Monstrorum (http://myworld.ebay.com/monstrorum). The only one of his creations that he currently has on sale is a rather lame "mummified alien" but what he most often sells are "mysterious monsters" that have washed up on beaches.
Once he did a 6-7 foot tall, dried up, evil looking, monstrosity of a mermaid. Another time a type of fish with the face of a dog. All fairly realistic looking, especially from only one or two pictures.
They usually go for several hundred dollars or even above a thousand on ebay.
That's his work. I'm fairly confident in it.

I'm leaning towards the water rat theory, myself: http://gawker.com/5032170/montauk-monster-vole-or-satan
All that is necessary for the triumph of good is that evil men do nothing.
that "squid" was on a discovery channel program... dont remember what it was, but they built it, strapped it to a tether and dragged it underwater behind a boat to test the squids movements.

This story reminds me of a picture I saw HERE
The first time I saw the OP story I thought it was a dead decomposing dog...

WTF?
I KNOW! Disturbing isn't it? A cross between a human and a dog?

In case anyone is following the story...
The mysterious man who claims to have taken the carcass and hidden it away has come out and is appealing to the community to return his dead monster. Apparently someone has taken it. (because he was going to send the bones to an artist, I think is what it said).
There is a blog dedicated to the topic now... *shakes head*

That's pretty good, and I guess seems pretty conclusive too. Who would do that to a racoon?
Atheist Books
Answer: Somebody who really doesn't like racoons?
More likely, the racoon simply drown and the 'damage' done was simply the result of natural decomposition, assuming that's what the animal is.
Seriously, though... 'demons'? 'Aliens'? Extra-dimensional shamblers? For fuck's sake - the thing is dead. It's not much of a supernatural monster if it's a mortal entity.

People are stupid.
I'm gonna go ahead and say not a raccoon. or an animal.
Why does someone take bad pictures of it in hopes of IDing the creature, refuse to tell where the corpse is, then decide to cough up the creatures former location only to get the now stolen corpse back.. from people who won't produce it.
Seriously... this has media stunt written all over it, even if I turn out to be wrong.

My conclusion: Tastes like chicken.
"Anyone can repress a woman, but you need 'dictated' scriptures to feel you're really right in repressing her. In the same way, homophobes thrive everywhere. But you must feel you've got scripture on your side to come up with the tedious 'Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve' style arguments instead of just recognising that some people are different." - Douglas Murray

I dunno, it looks pretty deliberately damaged. The creation of the "beak" is clearly done by removing the teeth from the upper jaw. Having seen several decomposing small mammals and birds (we have lot of foxes, owls and other predators around here) the skin and fur normally lasts longer than the flesh. This animal looks like it's been skinned and deliberately mutilated.
