NFL Hall of Fame Game and God..................

Being a long time Redskin fan I am well aware of the history of Art Monk and am dismayed that it took so long for such a great player to make it into the Hall Of Fame.

BUT................It fucking pisses me off that in the induction today that GOD seemed to do everything and Art merely was a puppit of God's will. He had nothing to do with his talent? It was all a magical puppiteer in a grand "plan".

Me I'd like to think Art broke those NFL records, not because of Superman vs Kriptonite, but because HE did all the work.  Art according to god, was just something that god manipulated so that others could kiss god's ass. I would like to think that Art Monk did what he did because HE was great at what he did.

But it seems that theiests in every aspect of life like the nipple of their rabbits feet.

I wish these sports figures of all sports would give up on stupid superstitions like not changing their socks, or stupid crap like blowing up a basesball, or wearing an unwashed jockstrap!

Sports are not about what you believe in, sports are about the love of the sport. The sport could be hocky or water polo and every country in the world has people who partisipate in some sort of sport. Are we to believe that every sport in the world is guided by an invisable friend?

OR do some teams win and some lose? It just so happend in ART's history that he rose to the top. MOST NFL players last 2-5 years IF they make the team.

There was no "magic" to Art Monk. He was a fantastic dedicated player who worked harder than any other reciever on the team. The thought of God magically making  Art, or "allowing" Art to make a catch or touchdown cheapens his acheavements turning him into a puppit.

To all the jocks reading this, YOU ARE FUCKING IDIOTS, if you think special socks, or crossing your fingers, or special gloves makes you better! Placebos dont make you win, you either win or lose, sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose.

To attribute Art Monk's success to God might as well be atributing it to Micky Mouse or Thor. I'd like to think that Art himself actually did something without a hand up his back.

I really wish an athlete

I really wish an athlete would break a record/win a championship/get in the hall of fame/whatever and come out as an atheist "God had nothing to do with it as there is no God. It was me/the team."

Well, we had Kathy Griffin

Well, we had Kathy Griffin and "Suck it, Jesus!"

Perhaps one day soon we'll have a top athelete thank his or her coaches and supporters for making it all possible.

But you must feel you've got scripture on your side to come up with the tedious 'Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve' style arguments instead of just recognising that some people are different." - Douglas Murray

Touchdown !!

It sure as hell won't be TOUCHDOWN VIKINGS, but I'm still a fan.  I don't know a whole lot about other teams.  Except for the border battle, Packer's & Viking's.  Yes it is a pain in the ass when any receiver makes that wonderful touchdown and then kneels down, as if to pray.  That is so sickening.  Football season is so close to fishing and hunting.

Do these modern sports

Do these modern sports figures think they are "praying" to anything different than the icons of the ancient Greek Olympics? Do they really think that they are doing anything different than the ancient wrestler praying for thanks for his victory?

I used to be superstitious after I wrote poetry when I did believe. I used to thank god after every time I wrote a poem. Since then I have realized that sometimes, mostly rarely, I write something noteworthy. But I now know that what I write is me. Just like most pee wee football players WONT make it to the NFL.

Art's career had everything to do with him and nothing to do with magic, and for every Art Monk that makes it that far , there are countless talented players who don't even make it to the NFL because of NUMBERS.

Art deserves the credit, but there is no magic in what he did. If Allah didn't win him a Super Bowl how can a claim of an invisable friend knocking up a girl put a ring on his finger? Could it be that he, and not some ancient myth got him where he is now?

I would like to think so.

I wouldn't say it's a rivalry between the Vikings and Packers so much as it's a rivalry between the Packer's and everyone else who refuses to wear foam cheese on their heads.

with all due respect, the Packers don't suck. They stink like rancid cheese.

Yeah, Art Monk was awesome. I didn't see the HOF induction ceremony so I gotta ask.... did Art at least thank some of the other great Skins players that helped him out along his road to the hall ?  Joe Theismann, John Riggins , Coach Gibbs, and the Hogs come to mind first....

I was flpping through

I was flpping through channels last night and was watching a rerun of it so I didn't catch who was introducing him, I think it was his son. His introducer mentioned God one too many times and I turned the channel.

Tell us how you really

Tell us how you really feel.

Anywho, as much as I love pro football it just amazes me in a day and age where we have put man on the moon and have cell phones with internet capacity that people thank fictional sky daddies and wear their "lucky" socks.
