Oblivion's Art
So, I decided to post my drawings for you to criticize, and if posible, help me to improve. Expect to see bad art andbad soviet Russia jokes in this topic.
Here are all the pics I have at photobucked now, most of them are old, but I'll eventually scan and upload more recent ones.
The first drawing that started my gas mask obsesion.
Another gas mask.
The dreaded moose in a room...the horror.
I don't even know what that is, but I like the head.
An Illithid psion, Illithids begin their live as parasites that take over their host's body and transform into extremely inteligent, brain eating monstrosities, this one has apparently a bondage fetish.
Some kind of goths I suppose.
A gas mask Angel =D
And a male one.

thats some nice work. have you thought about giving them some colour? using photoshop (or paint.net if you're after a free legal alternative) can make pictures look a lot better with even a single colour on them. heres one where I used paint.net to put a grey and black shading over a simple pencil pic, then played with the RGB (red/blue/green) levels to get a red skin on him. it didn't take very long to do and gives pics an extra dimension to them
also try doing a bit of shading to some pictures as well. the picture in my avatar was made most from different shading techniques. here is a larger version of him (he's thanatos - ultimate form from an old game called chaos legion)
I've found that for myself, if I copy pictures of a certain type enough times then I assimilate some of the techniques ued to make them into my skills and can use them later when making original stuff

those are all good! i cant critize because i cant draw worth crap anyways... I agree tho have you tried to add some color, i think it would make them even better!
I thought of using colours, but I'm not very good with colouring and I fear that I will ruin them. Also, thanks for the link, I've installed that paint from paint.net and I'm gonna try to use it.
I've been trying shading too lately:
I think this is the best shading I have done.
This is the most recent drawing I've made, I did it during class, so it's not really good.
bu the problem is thatt I have no idea how to shade, and what kind of pencils to use.
I think I know what you mean. Thanks for the advice, your drawings are amazing.
Being unable to draw does not mean that you can't criticize, otherwise we wouldn't be able to criticize movies, music and all the other stuff.
a tip for paint.net: when you put colour on a picture, first make a new layer and click on the layer properties button. it should come up with a box like this:
change the blend mode to 'multiply' in the drop down list. this way, whatever you draw on the new layer wont erase stuff on the first one. if you'e putting some red skin or something on the second layer, then he black lines from the first layer will still be visible. it's kind of hard to explain, but if you give it a go you'll see what I mean.
that looks cool. the shading brings it out into a more 3d looking picture. here's a link I was sent earlier this year when I was after some help with my art. it's a basic shading model of a sphere, but even though Ive been using shading for years, it still had some stuff in it that I didn't think of.

(they say never to use your fingertips to blend pencil shading but I do it all the time.)
the best pencils for shading are ones that have soft pencil-lead in them. they will usually be called 2B 4B or 6B pencils (the higher the number the softer they are and the darker they draw). I usually go with 6B pencils cause I like to do heavy dark shading.
I mostly use mechanical pencils for drawing, as I don't have to sharpen them and they can do good shading on their own. they're quite versatile and easily go from light thin lines to thick black lines and everything in between. they cost a bit more than normal pencils but they're well worth it.
I gues the easiest way to learn shading would be to find a simple picture with shading on it and copy it a couple of times, at least that's what works for me.

Hey, I love those ! That "Death" character is really neat, and your second gasmask guy looks great. And I'm pretty sure I've never seen anything like your bondage squid. You seem to have a fertile imagination, and enough talent to channel it into eyecatching artwork.
If you want to know just how good you can get, you'll just have to put in a few hours of drawing a day, and you'll find out soon enough. That's what a professional artist told me when I asked him how I could improve my artwork, so there you go.
As for shading, why not learn from the best and study Bernie Wrightson's black and white illustrations.

Thanks, I'm gonna use your tip once I have the time to colour something.
Again, thanks for the tips.
I have two 2B and a 3B pencil, but I've been shading using a black pen...
Yeah, I've been thinking of changing to mech. pencils due to sharpening, because I usually forget to do it.
I'll try that.
Thanks, the death guy was inspired by Invader Zim's episode "A Room With A Moose", and that squid is from D&D. By the way that guys art is amazing.
Anyway, here are three more drawings I uploaded:
This is an ouroboros, Couatles that where touched by chaos, they noe breed true, althought no two of them look the same.
A more recent one.
And the most recent one I've made.
