Politics - Don't Look if You Don't Like

From

DAVENPORT, Iowa (CNN) – A minister delivering the invocation at John McCain’s rally in Davenport, Iowa Saturday told the crowd non-Christian religions around the world were praying for Barack Obama to win the U.S. presidential election.

“There are millions of people around this world praying to their god—whether it’s Hindu, Buddha, Allah—that his opponent wins, for a variety of reasons. And Lord, I pray that you will guard your own reputation, because they’re going to think that their God is bigger than you, if that happens,” said Arnold Conrad, the former pastor of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Davenport.

The remark was made before McCain arrived at the rally but the Republican nominee's campaign quickly put out a statement distancing itself from the remarks.

“While we understand the important role that faith plays in informing the votes of Iowans, questions about the religious background of the candidates only serve to distract from the real questions in this race about Barack Obama's judgment, policies and readiness to lead as commander in chief,” said McCain campaign spokesperson Wendy Riemann.

This incident comes a day after a Minnesota voter asked Senator McCain if Barack Obama was an Arab at a town hall in Lakeville, Minnesota and just three days after Lehigh GOP County Chairman Bill Platt made a speech at a McCain rally in Pennsylvania where he refered to the Democrat nominee for president as Barack Hussein Obama.

'Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition. God wants you to go to war.'

LMFAO!!!  has anyone ever heard of the god hindu?  wow, that really shows his knowledge of world religions.  never a dull moment when a pastor opens his mouth!

Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."

To me, McCain almost

To me, McCain almost redeemed himself, when he (sort of) stuck up for Obama at the rally where he shot down the lady who called him an arab. Of course, he and Palin shouldn't have been saying that stupid shit about him being friends with terrorists in the first place. But it seems to me that McCain may just have scruples after all, and that he's been behaving the way he has been lately purely to appeal to right wing (christian) voters.

But I hope to Rod he doesn't get elected president. Anyone who would select Palin as a running mate isn't fit for the job.

Wish in one hand, shit in the other, see which one fills up first.

Uh, he is friends with a terrorist.  Bill Ayers is his name.  Just because he isn't Muslim and hasn't blown anything up in 40 years doesn't mean he's not a terrorist.

Get the facts before saying something stupid, they are not friend, they worked together on the annenberg challenge in chicago, because they lived in the same neighbourhood that ayers lives in, which last time i checked doesn't mean they are buddies. The fact that they have't had contact in over three years kinda shows that they aren't friends.

This minister reminds me of

This minister reminds me of a few elections ago, when Pat Bucannan gave a speach at the GOP convention and said that if you are not a christian or a heterosexual, you don't belong in America. I wonder why ol' Pat never got elected.

Funny, I thought no longer committing terrorism and having your convictions overturned because of illegal government activity made one not a terrorist.

Meh. I'll still vote for the guy whoo was 8-11 when Ayers was active over the guy who was in bed with Keating during his reign of financial terror.

By the way, love the "Boy Howdy!" avatar. I used to be a regular subscriber to Creem magazine in the 70's - glad to see it's still kicking (in some form).
