Or it could be "god is right"
But, if you play it backwards at 1/4 speed it sounds like "worship satan for he is your master"
People who think there is something they refer to as god don't ask enough questions.
Although I think it sounded like "Worship The Adversary, Destroyer of Kings, Angel of the Bottomless Pit, Great Beast that is called Dragon, Prince of This World, Father of Lies, Spawn of Satan, and Lord of Darkness." With a lil cute baby "Mwa-ha-haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa just before
I'm with Renee as well, sounds a little stitched together. Although I will have to admit to having limited knowledge on this sort of stuff.

After spending the last month or so being subjected by my husband to 3-4 different versions of Metallicas 'death magnetic' , all the while him saying "do you hear that? That clipping? Wait, listen again" I would call myself an expert in mixing...
the last part of that baby audio just doesn't sound...."fluid"...

"The whole conception of God is a conception derived from ancient Oriental despotisms. It is a conception quite unworthy of free men."

Read this.
It's just unintelligible noise to me.
Gee thanks, Matt. I was trying to get an uncorrupted sample of people concurring with the premise that if you read the story FIRST then you would hear what the story told you to hear.
Oh well. There will be more instances of this type of meme in the future.

Reminds me of the "Kill our mommy" doll from a few years back. The thing was "saying" "we love our mommy" in spanish, which to the non-spanish speaker and through the crappy pizeo speaker in a doll sounds kind of like "kill our mommy".
Me too.
I don't see faces/heads/bodies/images of Jesus/Mary/Satan in shrimp/trees/toast/oil stains/mold/smoke clouds, either.
Heh. That's why I hadn't posted. I didn't want my bias to influence my response, and I instantly recognized what the sound was referring to when I first played it.

Yeah. That was supposed to be funny directed at Matt. I knew somebody on here would get it. I just didn't expect it to be less than 12 hours later. Matt was johnny-on-the-spot.

I happen to check snopes every morning. I get so many e mails sending bullshit. I always send back a link to the debunking. Pseudoscience and other bullshit pisses me off.

I'm going to go out on a limb and call Snopes wrong, here. 'God' and 'light' and perfectly audible; I picked up on it, my parents picked-up on it and even my Goddamn crappy audio -> text software grabbed 'God' and 'Light' from the 'cooing'.
The actual Wal-Mart account may be false, but arguing that the toy isn't saying 'God' is a white lie.
EDIT: ...You'll never guess which company, coincidentally, also has exclusive rights to produce toys from the Veggietales series.
Hint: It's fucking Fisher-Price.

Hm. Nope. Blind-tested on Skype, not a single positive hit in seven attempts.
Looks like I'm wrong.

I didn't hear god or islam in it. I did hear sounds that sounded similar to "the light" at the end, but the word before it, if there was in fact one, was unintelligible to my ears.
Enlightened Atheist, Gaming God.
I didn't hear "God is the Light" until I was told to hear it. However, on the first try, I heard what sounds like a telltale sign of editing. There isn't quite enough time after uuuuuhhhmamamamama and "God is the light." Listen at the end of the mamamamama's. The kid's taking in a breath, but the breath doesn't finish completely before we're all the way into the hard G in "God is the light." That's a cut/paste point. Furthermore, I don't know that I entirely believe that the second part of the clip is unedited. I hear what sounds like digital manipulation, particularly at the " --od is the--" part. My best guess is that this is a moderately well done cut and past job from a lot of babble.
By the way, I have not followed the link to the story, so I don't know anything about it. I just saw what was in this thread, and these are my thoughts while having no knowledge of the backstory.

I hate clipping.
When I was a professional musician, digital recording was just becoming available to the average Joe. The first two albums I recorded on were done on reel to reel. A few years later, I got my first home digital studio... the Roland VS-1680. I still have it somewhere, actually...
Anyway, a few weeks ago, I visited a friend in Greenville to help him engineer and produce a couple of songs for his band. It was my first chance to really dig into Garage Band, which... Jesus fucking Christ... it's like twenty times more powerful than anything I had just ten years ago.
I say all that to say... ten years ago, I could have stitched together a more believable bit than this little clip. It's obviously manipulated... (I was being sarcastically polite in my last post.) Whoever did this was more interested in speed than accuracy. If it were me doing the engineering, I'd have made that kid record a lot more babble before I got to work. Making a mistake as simple as not letting the breath finish... that's inexcusable.

The question is, does subliminal audio clips have any influence on how people think?
I think that is the extension of the initial question. We need a material component to this other than adult variables.
For instance, we've been somewhat conditioned to hear what we're told to hear. However, even if we don't know the background we would still look for something that was decipherable.
A child on the other hand is, for want of a better term, a blank slate with no conditioned response available to them for attributing meaning to the alleged words.
My point is that even if a child were to hear "islam is the light" they wouldn't know any connotation.
Not only is it obtuse for us to make assumptions on what the doll said, but it is ridiculous for us to think that it would mean the same for a child hearing it.

To speak of actual subliminal advertising, experimentation has shown it to not work. The original 1950s study was flawed, all studies since then show no effect for subliminal advertising.
Psychology is a science. Unfortunately the general public knows even less about it than other sciences. Until I was going to college, I believed that psychology had shown evidence for it and things like esp. Psychologists have actually been pretty forward in the war against pseudoscience. It does piss me off how many people believe in bullshit pseudoscience.

I don't see how subliminal advertising will work people.
lol.
Thanks, Cpt. It is time for my nightly smoke break.
Subliminal messages are not the issue. In fact, it is the converse of subliminal messages that is the issue.
This doll is an instance of overt meanings given to something controvertible.
It is the exact opposite.
