Something interesting brought to us by the Australians. Every time I learn something about her, she seems more crazy and incompetent. I genuinely fear what will happen if McCain wins, and then dies of old age, and then she is in charge. Perhaps the democrats should start a "Palin loves terrorists" campaign to counteract the "Obama is friends with a terrorist" campaign.
Every new thing I learn in this election makes me a little more sick. I hate to say it, but I am almost wanting Obama to win. Let us keep our fingers crossed that he does, if for no other reason than keeping Palin far away from office.

It might be that a tiny bit of my hope for America will be restored if a significant portion of the moderate Rethuglican voters refuse to vote for her. She might even be too crazy for America.

Well, it looks like Palin's whacky bullshit won't be plaguing the White House anytime soon so, no worries about whatever the fuck she thinks. She can tromp right back to Alaska after November 4th and rot in a meth. lab hell for the rest of her diluted and naive days.

Hope you're right on the tromping back to Alaska thing. Got me to thinking and wondering if she'll get back on the ticket in 2012 and/or if she'll challenge the U.S. Senate seat for Alaska in 2010. Bet she'd love to have Ted Stevens spot too but she won't be able to get at the democrat who beats him until 2014.

this really doesnt supprise me, i keep hearing on the new that both republicans and the mccain campaign are saying that she is going "rouge" so... no supprise.
I was heartened to hear that after former Gov. Murkowski gave his daughter his old Senate seat that the state changed the laws which no longer gave the governor power to appoint replacements for empty seats. I could only imagine that if Stevens won re-election but had to leave because of his crimes that Sarah Palin would appoint herself or her husband.
Sarah is probably planning a run for President in 2012. That would be a hoot. Even my Republican parents won't support her. Comediens will have a field day with a Palin for President campaign. I wonder if she'd pick Chuck Norris to be her VP?

Them: They will straighten the economy and change Roe vs. Wade.
Them continued: Yeah, Roe needs to be changed.
Me: You mean overturned, right? You do know that the President and Vice have no vote with such a decision.
Them: (long pause looking around at each other, cue jeopardy theme music)
Well they get to pick the Supreme Court so they kinda do.
Me: You mean, the President selects a candidate who is then appointed by the Senate after the Judiciary Committee conducts a review of the nominee. Anyway, let's say Roe was overturned, then what?
Them: What do you mean?
Me: What's next? What does overturning Roe do?
Them: For starters, no more abortions !
Me: Sure about that?
Them: They will be illegal.
Me: So what is the end means then.
Them: So you want to know what the punishment should be?
Me: Yes.
Them: It's murder. So a woman getting a closet abortion should be executed.
Them continued: Oh I agree. Yes, a life for a life.
Me: I see. Have you ever considered....
Ok, the conversation dwindled downward from that point into utter chaos and a couple of them eventually walked, no, stomped off in a huff. I did make many good points and said plenty I know they didn't want to hear.
Just wanted to add an example of how many xians view abortion. They don't JUST want Roe overturned. They want the death penalty for anyone who commits abortion.... that's the "end" goal.
People in glass houses......Mind you I am glad you are an atheist, but if you think your country is perfect, I've heard pleanty that makes my hair stand on end, especially your country's attitude about placating hypersensitive people because you picked on someone(incert label here).
Europe and Canada scare me in their censorship laws disquised as "hate crime" laws which is nothing more than a "blasphemy law".
At least we have more freedom to bitch at each other in this country. America certainly has been in the hands of fundies for far too long, and it seems the wheels of their hold are comming off finally. But I cant think of any other country where the small guy has the most oportunity to compete their way into the mainstreem. Censorship laws, no matter how well intended, have the oposite affect in the long run, and help the majority far more than the minority and that attitude can crush dissent in the long run.
I don't want any laws preventing a Christian or Muslim condemning me to hell. I can fight my own battles and we already have laws that say that we cant harm each other FOR ANY REASON, much less on the issue of religion or race.
Dissent cannot be protected through censorship.

It really is scary that she could be the most powerful person in the world quite easily. However, if McCain chokes on a pretzel and dies, I don't think the world will take her all that seriously. The only havoc she'll be able to reak will be on her own people. Fortunately it looks like Obama's gonna win. We'll see in a couple of days I guess.
