Here's to the most rugged, most awesome, most long-lived machine we've ever put into orbit
Having suffered a major malfunction in September, Hubble had a very grim-looking future when attempts to restore it's functionality failed. Disheartening, but perhaps not surprising; it is beginning to collect it's fair share of age.
But, ladies and gentlemen, it looks as though the cat's come back:
NASA plans to upgrade the telescope on her in may.
Cheers!
"Natasha has just come up to the window from the courtyard and opened it wider so that the air may enter more freely into my room. I can see the bright green strip of grass beneath the wall, and the clear blue sky above the wall, and sunlight everywhere. Life is beautiful. Let the future generations cleanse it of all evil, oppression and violence, and enjoy it to the full."

That is good news!
The Hubble telescope has given us some of the best images of space we have ever seen.
All this and still no sightings of god..........

...That NASA has let you know about.
Duh duh duh...
Great picture Kevin and thanks for posting. I understand the Hubble is having a gyroscope problem and apparently, after 17+ years, the batteries are only operating at half capacity.... where's that damnable drumming bunny when you need him ?

I think Hubble must have the record for the number of times that rumours of its death have been greatly exaggerated. And to be running on a 486 today....
I really hope they put it in a museum instead of burning it up when the time eventually comes to decide its fate. What an extraordinary job it has done.

Contemplation of the Deep Field images from Hubble gave me with what I would define as non-theistic 'spiritual' experience.
