Guns at church?

Armed guards keep watch over church services

(CNN) -- Lori Davis remembers a time when the doors were always open at her church -- and not guarded.

"No one thought twice about their safety. I guess we took it for granted," said Davis.

But things have changed. In an era when terrorism threats and deadly shootings at schools and churches have made headlines, religious leaders are rethinking their security strategies. Last Saturday, a minister was fatally shot and another man wounded outside of a church in Kentucky where the men went to attend a funeral.

Such violence has houses of worship evolving from the days of walkie-talkies and video surveillance to armed guards, who keep a watchful eye over worship services and church.

"We live in a sinful world and people do crazy and irrational things," said Davis, a member of the Highview Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky.

Highview, like a number of other churches nationwide, has a volunteer security force consisting of at least one armed guard during any given worship service.....

Don't they trust God? What

Don't they trust God? What if it's God's will that some nutcase kills them? If their god is real, why can't he protect them? Surely he's more powerful than an armed guard.

I am with you Matt! They claim that there is 'evil' out there...where is their god?

I wonder if asked that question they would simply state: " We have prayed long and hard about this asking god for direction. I woke up one morning and the idea of armed guards came into my head, it was a divine idea!"

You know that Jesus loves

You know that Jesus loves guns and violence, hey, they even put out that "end times" rapture video game.

Well, they've got good company, palistinians and Jews guard their fiction clubs with guns too.

Now what if the Mormon

Now what if the Mormon churches had armed guards on its' grounds? Would a peaceful protest regarding Gay-marriage cause the guards to get itchy trigger fingers? How can anyone feel safe?

Guns are the arms of God. If they can convince people the all powerful God needs money, it not much of stretch to convince the sheep he needs security guards as well.

Someone has to protect us

Someone has to protect us from the atheists.  If God won't do it, armed guards will do.

Aren't you and your fellow theists extremely anxious to get to paradise? Get the party started now, Jesus!

Just more proof of how phony Theist 'belief' really is.

FIRST:  IF thou art a theist then  a  miserable life is what they teach you to endure,  while getting ready to die.

SECOND:  The only House-of-whorship assassins I've heard of  where  themselves theists --   who disagreed with some theology that the target house-of-whorship was preaching.   I've never heard of an atheist shooting-up   or  blowing-up any house-of-whorship.   Do you know of any?  If so please post the link.

So when the bullets start to fly, you will go through the following thought process:

1. A gun went off, I should duck.

2. No wait, I believe I'm going to paradise with Jesus. I should fight my instinct to survive because those heathen atheists believe it a product of evolution.

3. No, but Jesus wants me to live this miserable existence on this earth with all these heathen atheists screwing up the planet with their logical thinking. He want me here to bring the Truth to them.

4. Damn it, have to resist standing the path of the bullets. I better duck and cover and act terrified like everyone else in church.

By the time you finally begrudingly duck and cover, don't you think you'll be dead?

Gay-Marriage ban Protesters Target Mormon Church

I don't like the result of that bigoted vote in CA, and out of all the groups who should understand bigotry, 70% of black Californians voted for the ban, ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDING.

But, when supporters of gay marriage deface a church in protest, that is crossing the line. Many here have stories of OUR personal property being defaced.

Just as when Atheist Station was defaced in PA. Just as many here have had bumper stickers and magnets defaced.

If gays are throwing a fit over this, they must remember that movements DONT happen over night, and this setback is to be expected.

When you compare the support gays had 30 years ago, it was non-existent. The vote may have been in favor of the ban, but it was practically split. Don't get even, just think long term and SHOW others that they have nothing to fear.
