Breastfeeding....at 7 years old
Okay, can someone that has kids and has breastfed explain what the heck this is all about:

I had a cousin who breastfed until he was around 3 or 4. He's a failure.
Against that, I have heard that the Cherokee routinely breast fed for three years. I would also add that up until the advent of guns, they were great ass kickers who ruled over a fairly large area compared to other tribes.
Then too, apparently, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends mothers should breastfeed "at least until one year of age and then as long as baby and mother mutually want to."

I remember seeing this a year or so ago. Creepy, but whatever. Those Brits are so sophisticated! Either that or just bat shit insane.
Breastfeeding has been a subject of discussion between friends and I before. A few of my GF's thought it 'the accepted-right thing to do' (much like a belief in god) the majority just decided to bottle feed as they found it would be easier.
I chose not to have kids so I have no source of personal experience to draw from. It makes me feel uncomfortable to even think about a wee one suckling on my breast for nourishment....freaks me out.
And no, I am not one of those who oppose public breastfeeding.
Are there any women out there who want to chime in here?
