More Proof That We Don't Need a Transcendent Moral Standard

Saw this today on Science Daily. Definitely worth a read. Really not that long.

Evolution and Taking Turns

1. What ClockCat said.

2. A transcendent moral standard is the one offered up by theists in the morality debate.

3. GTFO Freethinking Anonymous.

What are

What are we transcending?

To develop criterion for right and wrong.

following your logic...

What logic?

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, | As I foretold you, were all spirits, and | Are melted into air, into thin air; | And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, | The cloud-capped towers, the gorgeous palaces, | The solemn temples, the great globe itself, - Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve, | And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, | Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff | As dreams are made on, and our little life | Is rounded with a sleep. - Shakespeare

Butter: We're transcending

Butter: We're transcending the fallen nature of wretched, sinful man.

Manofmanynames: Enjoy this cat.

Perfectly fine, as in they're not extinct yet?

Your turn to bitch tomorrow.

Well you know that's not true. Piranhas don't eat eachother, so they DO have a moral standard.

I was spawned from original sin
And if I had a dollar bill for all the things I've done
There'd be a mountain of money piled up to my chin

Have you ever seen a piranha? I don't know if that's a result of a moral standard or just the fact that they're about the least appetizing fish ever.

Doesn't this make your analogy dishonest? We all have at the very least a personalized set of morals.

You're agnostic atheist or an agnostic theist? Do you or do you not believe in a God?

From your forum topic "Why Atheists Are Disliked:"

Quote:

But yea, to clear it up for you, yes, I'm no longer an atheist. I do believe in God now, even though I didn't believe before.

Exactly. They evolved such that they derive no pleasure in eating other piranha so they don't do it. So their morality is hedonism(no morality).

Every animal's real 'morality' is seek your own pleasure(including humans and theists). The only thing unique about humans is that we can put on the holier than thou act of not being selfish hedonists all the while being one. That's what morality is, the holier than thou act.

Actually they do eat other piranha's, if one get caught on a fishing hook, the others will attempt to nibble away at it, and piranhas often eat on their weaker ones.
