This is a short 8 minutes video that I thought was pretty good, cause the speaker uses our two most known characters. www.therealfoodchannel.com/videc

I have to wonder just how

I have to wonder just how you got the url screwed up that badly.  However, there is a more pressing matter to consider.  Specifically, why is it that people who eat like this dude says we should eat don't actually live any longer than people who eat all of the foods that he thinks nobody should eat?  Seriously, this concept of what foods people ought to eat has been around for centuries now.   Doctors even peddle that nonsense.

How many doctors are there who are over 150 years old?  None?  That tells a story about what we should do.

How many people who eat all the wrong foods and have other supposed "risk factors" are there who live to be about the same age that doctors tend to die at?  Pretty much everyone who does all the wrong things lives about as long as doctors do.  That tells a story about how much we ought to pay attention to those people who think that we could all live to be hundreds of years old if we only ever ate salad.

The thing is, there is some emerging evidence that a calorie restricted diet can lead to a shorter life.

Gene, dude, you are so fucked-up.

People wouldn't live to be 150 years old no matter what, thanks to the telomeres in our DNA. So, no, the fact that there aren't any 300+ year old doctors does not somehow disprove dietary science.

Our bodies are largely composed of hat we consume. You eat no protein, for example, and your body cannot build new muscle tissue or create new white blood cells. You eat no calcium and your bones become very brittle. You eat nothing and you starve to death.

...This is, what? Grade 8 biology at best?

Maybe you dropped-out by then?

Hey, don't take my word or the word of some idiot 'doctor' (what the Hell would a doctor know anyway, right? Only spent 7+ years in school earning their degree and wrote a dissertation on the topic of their expertise) for it, though. Try it out. Eat nothing but butter tarts for the next month and a half, and see where that steers you. Sticking out tongue

I can see the bright green strip of grass beneath the wall, and the clear blue sky above the wall, and sunlight everywhere. Life is beautiful. Let the future generations cleanse it of all evil, oppression and violence, and enjoy it to the full."

Kev, trust me, I got

Kev, trust me, I got the memo about there being a maximum lifespan and the food thing. If you ate nothing but strawberries for a month, you would not get the same deficiencies as a guy who eats nothing but pastry but you would still get some kind of sick from not eating the other stuff that you should be eating.

You want to change up what you eat all the time for that very reason. However, the dude in that video has pretty much decided that living vegan is the right choice for everyone. A couple of times, he even invoked the “studies show that...” card. Well studies show lots of things. Like his point that fish has mercury, which is bad for your brain. Studies also show that fish is loaded with choline, which is goof for your brain. So have some fish once or twice a week and you will probably be just fine.

In other news, eggs were bad for you for several years but they are now good for you again. Did eggs change or did the thinking about eggs change? Moving buses hurt when you stand in front of them and the thinking on that is unlikely to change, so you probably ought to try not doing that.

But let me get back to the maximum lifespan thing for a second. Yes, we have one and if you live in a developed country and you don't go out of your way to torpedo your odds of getting to it, you stand a fair chance of reaching something close to it.

The guy in the video suggests that people who go to bars are more likely to get murdered. Well, that is probably true but it is still a selection fallacy. If you go to a wine bar every night for 30 years and you suck down two bottles of the stuff, you are probably not going to get murdered. You will stand a fair chance of going on the transplant list though. On the other hand, if you drink three bottle of wine a week but spread out over the who course of that week, well studies show that you are probably not going to run a much lower risk of coronary disease.
