Veni, Vedi, Vici

Hello all.  I have returned.  I survived my most recent entanglement with colon cancer and am well enough to look for conversation here.  I look forward to catching up with those of you who knew me from before and meeting the rest.  I'm glad to see the site is still up and running!

I don't know who you are

I don't know who you are but, welcome back!

Also, congratulations on your victory in your battle with colon cancer.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, | As I foretold you, were all spirits, and | Are melted into air, into thin air; | And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, | The cloud-capped towers, the gorgeous palaces, | The solemn temples, the great globe itself, - Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve, | And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, | Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff | As dreams are made on, and our little life | Is rounded with a sleep. - Shakespeare

Congrats. I like your title

Congrats. I like your title for the forum topic as well as your avatar name. Who was your favorite emperor?

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome, Hamby.  It has been too long since someone called me an evil bastard.  I come back with a new lease on my hatred of theism.  You wouldn't believe the number of people who wanted to pray over me while I was ill.  It really pissed me off.

As for my favorite Roman emperor, I prefer Claudius amongst the Julio-Claudians but Hadrian comes in a close second overall.

Seconded as far as that demographic is concerned, but overall I would have to say that your namesake takes the cake for me based on pure mythos and malevolence.

Fuck. I bet they're even taking credit for your recovery as we speak. That shit blows me away. I have lots of doctors in my family, so I imagine that being an oncologist is the exact opposite of being the prayer-squad, since it's shit-house luck when you get better, and totally their fault when it goes bad.

I've lost two extended family members to colon cancer, so I know what you just went through is beyond -words awful. Glad you got better.
