That is drivel. I'de write more, but this just isn't worth the effort.
you honestly believe that his work on civilization is drivel ,you think that our plight is'nt worth your time . Excuse me !!!
Signature ? How ?
But we will procrastinate up till the last minute before making a proper amount of effort.
Sustainable civilisation is not going to look like this civilisation...

Ultimately scientific history has already answered this question. Even if the earth's human population were only 1.000.000 people, the potential for a meteor to hit us is there and it is simply a matter of when, not if. Not to mention that 99% of species in our planet's history are now extinct.
Having said that, barring a cosmic disaster, we are not doing anything differently than any other species. We are exploiting our resources and we will pollute them to the point they are no longer usable. We will over populate to the point it is unsustainable.
We see this over exploitation behavior in other species as well. While we do have the opportunity to pull back and extend the ride, extending the ride is the only thing we can do, the ride will end eventually, even for the entire planet AND our sun for that matter.
In our current state as a species, with all our tribal politics and religion distracting us from this common interest, can make one feel gloomy. However, we as a species in the past, have gotten over other hurdles. I am hopping our species can pull it's head out of it's collective ass.
