Bloody Hell, I'm Going Mad...

Today I had the most indescribable experience. I was alone on my computer and suddenly I started hearing sounds similar to EMI, I thought nothing of it because my computer tends to make odd sounds. But about an hour later I began hearing more distinguishable noises, it sounded like guitars playing with drums, and all other instruments, I've never heard anything like it but it was no doubt music; and in fact, it was pretty good. When I moved the sounds stopped for a few minutes, then I heard an extremely garbled female voice, I couldn't distinguish the words though. Am I going crazy? Could my brain be picking up on radio signals? Or could my brain be interpreting the sounds from my computer into something I recognize?

I swear I'm not lying, and I'm not crazy; this really freaked me out.

There are a number of

There are a number of possibilities, not all of which mean you're losing it. The most likely explanation is that the music you heard was real. Sound can be conducted over incredible distances sometimes. Through metal, water, or echo, chances are you were hearing someone's stereo. The fact that it stopped when you moved around a bit would lend support to the echo, as you generally have to be in perfect position to pick up echoes. Try recording it if it happens again. Put the recorder right by your ear where you can hear it. If the sound is recorded, you aren't nuts at all.

Well, I'm still hearing sounds and I tried recording them. Now don't get me wrong, although they're freaky I kind of like it to be honest. It's kind of like a speed/power metal something or other; I like it. The quality sucks though.

 It doesn't sound anything

It doesn't sound anything like what I went through when my schizo-affective disorder emerged.  Take care of yourself though in the chance that it is your brain going haywire.

I never thought there were corners in my mind until I was told to stand in one.

I have learned so much, thanks for keeping it real RRS.

Bloody Hell, I'm Going Mad...

There is a simple explanation to this..

If you you have fillings in your teeth, but being American I doubt it because America has the best orthodontists on the planet  they act as diodes..

now diodes are curious little devils .. it does not take much to create one.. and your teeth (or tooth ) has a diode in it if it has a filling.

the consequence of this , for some  people with fillings is that the radio waves are demodulated.. i.e the sound portion of the transmitted signal is

extracted from the carrier wave..  your mouth is a wonderful amplifier and because  it is coupled  through the different chambers created by your jaw bone

and onto your oratory canal .. can pick up this sound signal...

it is a known phenomena , and can be quite annoying.. but does happen ..

best regards..

Does it still happen when

Does it still happen when your computer is turned off? Or unplugged? Or when you are outside, well away from your computer?

If it only happens in the one room, is there any other equipment in the room with a loudspeaker in it?

If there are radio transmitters in the area, especially if AM band, then signals could get into your computer and be demodulated somewhere in all the transistor junctions and leak into your sound card and be audible. Might be affected by the particular state of your computer, the way the various cables connected to your computer are arranged. Maybe even some poor connection somewhere that demodulates the signal when it is sitting in a certain position.

Just the other night I was

Just the other night I was hearing a cracking noise and something that sounded like a few people talking. I didn't say anything because i thought maybe my sinus infection was affecting my hearing and the TV was on. Well I kept hearing it ~ it was driving me crazy~ come to find out the surround sound was off a bit and the back speaker was throwing 'extra noise' ~

Don't know if it helps but I had a few glasses of wine and dammit, I wanted to share.

Mythbusters disproved that.

Well, I didn't try it with the computer off but I did try moving around, but anyway read further.

I figured it out: I was hearing the typical sounds my computer makes along with my ipod. Apparently yesterday I forgot to turn off my ipod that was in my jacket, the two sounds ended up sounding like garbled voices and music. No wonder it sounded good!

my goodness!  you are the absolute loveliest kind of lady!

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."
