Catholics Come Home

I was sitting in my recliner, trying to stomach early morning news, when a commercial came on:

The whole theme of the commercial ~ besides trusting in jesus and become a catholic ~ was based around your life's movie and all of the good and bad you have done and how this will all become clear upon your death...

Gee, after watching this I want to run down to the nearest Catholic Church and repent all of my sins and blasphemy.

Don't hold your breath.

Haha, I know it isn't good, but at least they seem to have a little more respect for science than do fundies.

are you out of your mind? Catholics are the worst enemy to science ever. read some f**king history about those lunatics. i would rather go to a "charles manson to be executed" protest rally than attend a catholic church service.

I'm talking about what they

I'm talking about what they are doing NOW.  They accept science, and have STOPPED trying to stop it.  I'd consider that a step in the right direction.

Yeah, I'd agree that

Yeah, I'd agree that catholics take the cake historically, but scientologists, fundy christians, and moslems have them totally beat today.

Which is not to say they're harmless by any strech. For Africa alone they are condemnable.

Me: Well...that *has* been true...at least through the seventies and eighties.  But in the nineties I started seeing books by Catholic spin doctors (...oops...I mean, "apologists&quotEye-wink that were trashing evolution.  More recently, Vatican officials have complained that all of the "problems" (from their point of view) of disbelief in Europe and America are due to...wait for it...*educated* Catholics.

We may yet see a highly undesirable turnaround by Catholic officialdom to the kind of fundamentalism, albeit in a Catholic key, favoring Catholic doctrine, that we currently see in Protestant Evangelicals.  That simple-minded stuff sells like hot cakes in Africa, Asia and South America...so the Pope may just give up on Europe and America; indeed, to some extent, I think he has.  (When the Pope says that condoms are bad wrong, the Africans actually believe him.)

So...whatever may have been true in the past...hold on to your hats, because fundie Catholicism may well be on the way.

.

It will all become clear after your death.

How do they know? Who told them it will? Who told them it will and why did they believe it?

What kind of brain mush is this?

Jews stole the land. The owners want it back. That is all anyone needs to know about Israel. That is all there is to know about Israel.
