A tough question.For recent

A tough question.

For recent endeavors:

1.) Pi (Darren Aronofsky is nerd heaven- if you'll pardon the expression).

2.) Shaun of the Dead (I would enjoy having Simon Pegg over to the house for a glass or ten).

3.) The Joy of Home Plumbing and Lighting Fixtures (because not much else has piqued my interest).

For classics:

1.) The Lion in Winter (Peter O'Toole and Katherine Hepburn...that should suffice).

2.) Key Largo (Bogart and Bacall in their final pairing- one of his most dark films).

3.) City Lights (if you can't appreciate Charlie Chaplin, you don't deserve to watch films).

Regards,

UE

Blazing Saddles.

See if you guys can guess

See if you guys can guess what movie:

"How would you like me to make your life a living hell"

"I've been to Finkle's house, it's nice and cosy if you're Hanable Lector"

"Kill him"....."No, Kill him" "JOCK" "WIMP"

"WHAT WOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT PRESSURE!"......."Well, I have kissed a man".

Favorite bad guy movie line, guess the movie:

"You wanna job?"

The first one has got to be

The Pet Detective with Sean Young and Jim Carrey. I loved Young in Bladerunner and would probably have shagged her in PD, even if she was...you know...a bit hung.

Bad guy line "You wanna job?" is Scarface - saw it a week ago so can take no credit for memory on that.

Favorite serious movie of

Favorite serious movie of all time is Schindler's List. I cry every time I watch it. The worst part for me in that movie was when the woman architect told the guards that they were building the structure wrong, then they put her on her knees and blew her head off, then the guard told the builders to fix the problem.

It just reminds you how inhuman humans can get.

If you needed evidence of that you only had to see how the Redskins FO treated Zorn.

Are you kidding me? I admit that the Skins change coaches more than Danny changes his underwear, but Zorn was a bad play caller.  When I heard that he was formerly with the Lions in the past, I wondered what Danny was smoking.

If anything they should have stuck with Gibbs. I think Gibbs only problem was that he didn't have the GM or the depth of players. I think if he had stuck around a couple more years we would have been better off. BUT, Denver's former coach looks promising.

BUT HAVING SAID THAT, it is another day and another coach and isn't even the topic of this thread, although "Keystone Cops" would be fitting title for a documentary about the Redskins under Danny.

Lets not destract the topic of the thread. If the title were "Train wrecks" talking about the Skins would fit in.

i've never seen a film version of the satyricon, but i had to translate it for my introductory latin course as a college freshman.  that shit is hilarious.  a bitch to translate, though.

plautus's the haunted house is excellent too.  it's the basis for sondheim's a funny thing happened on the way to the forum, which is also a great film and one of the only musicals i can stand to watch.

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."

Tempting as the offer may be, I must regretfully inform you that this position is really rather permanently taken.

More to the subject, however, I must say that upon looking at it, I could as easily have listed 10 other films:

1. Andrei Tarkovsky "Solaris"

2. Michelangelo Antonioni "Red Desert"

3. David Cronenberg "Dead Ringers"

4. Oliver Stone "Natural Born Killers"

5. Marco Ferreri "The Big Feast"

6. Elem Klimov "Go And Look"

7. Rolf De Heer "Bad Boy Bubby"

8. Danny Boyle "Shallow Grave"

9. Stanley Kubrick "2001 A Space Odyssey"

10. John Huston "The Maltese Falcon"

No particular order or priority. I could go on and on, but enough is enough...

Generally speaking, I like a smart story... and some classical references... and I despise Hollywood.

(Yes of course I am a snob! But not only that, I am also an elitist.)

If I am correct you are young. But that movie has more carbon atom decay to date it than history itself.

I liked the movie for the "HUBBA HUBBA" aspect of Fonda, I guess I don't understand how such a young whipper snapper like you found that movie attractive. Please don't tell me that you find in that movie some profound message?

I get it if that you found Fonda hot and a MILF, babe yadda yadda yadda..... I guess I was miffed in your quote of "all time favorites" which was the title of the thread.

IN WHAT CONTEXT? I don't think I would quote that movie as being my favorite as any more than a T&A moive.

I almost forgot the original Pink Panther movies by Blake Edwards.  One of my all time favorite set of lines:

"Does your dog bite?"

"No"

*Dog Bites*

"I thought you said that your dog did not bite!"

"That is not my dog."
