Catholic Church - "The Devil made me do it"

Article wrote:

Sex abuse scandals in the Roman Catholic Church are proof that that "the Devil is at work inside the Vatican", according to the Holy See's chief exorcist.

So it seems that the chief exorcsit (ha!) for the catholic church is saying that all the child abuse scandals that are going on are because of the devil and are aided by cardinals that don't believe in Jesus and bishops who are "linked to the demon".  Seriously?  You're allowed to say that in the modern world?

Personally I prefer the take on this story by the Daily Mash

You're allowed to say pretty

You're allowed to say pretty much anything in the modern world.

and what did you expect to hear from the chief exorcist? You'd have more luck convincing a christian to believe in the flying spaghetti monster than to hear the church say that their ministers are horny pedophiles .

Lol.  70,000 exorcisms and

Lol.  70,000 exorcisms and none of the good ones made it to youtube.

Every time you start to think people might be living in the same century as you, someone proves you wrong.

Everything makes more sense now that I've stopped believing.

Now he clarifies:

Now he clarifies: http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/europe/03/16/vatican.exorcist.devil/index.html?iref=allsearch

Favorite quote:

But no one is too strong a believer to be possessed, said Amorth, who is employed by the Roman diocese.

"Nothing occurs without the permission of God, and he allows even holy people, even saints, to be possessed by the devil," he said.

But, he added, he sees no evil in the Vatican today: "I just see good people in the Vatican. People of prayer, holy people, I don't see any evil."

Can you believe these people?  Fucking witch doctors, it blows my mind.

Does anyone else think it's over-the-top creepy that the Vatican has an exorcist on the payroll?

"Nothing occurs without the permission of God, and he allows even holy people, even saints, to be possessed by the devil," he said.

That includes him, which is the whole, painfully obvious, problem with the whole demon/devil possession "argument".

There are only two possibilities here :

1. This guy is insane.

2. This guy is not insane, and is only saying these insane things just so he can keep this job !

You know, I keep hearing about these mythical "intelligent" believers. Where are they now ? What exactly do they do when people like this nutcase speak up ? Put their fingers in their ears and go "Lalalala ! I can't hear you !" ?

Y'know..... it's disturbing how much you and I think alike...

“A meritocratic society is one in which inequalities of wealth and social position solely reflect the unequal distribution of merit or skills amongst human beings, or are based upon factors beyond human control, for example luck or chance. Such a society is socially just because individuals are judged not by their gender, the colour of their skin or their religion, but according to their talents and willingness to work, or on what Martin Luther King called 'the content of their character'. By extension, social equality is unjust because it treats unequal individuals equally.” "Political Ideologies" by Andrew Heywood (2003)
