Greetings All

Greetings all. I am sure glad I found this site and all of you. A little about me. I am a 51 year old married guy with a real crazy past, as far as religion goes. I tried for the longest to "get along" and follow something. After all, that is how we were taught back then. Don't question, just do.  I look foward to sharing here and expanding my mind with you all. So now I too, am out of the closet and feel so much better that I don't feel pressured to be forced to join in and just bow my head with the rest of the sheep, or is it lemmings????

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, | As I foretold you, were all spirits, and | Are melted into air, into thin air; | And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, | The cloud-capped towers, the gorgeous palaces, | The solemn temples, the great globe itself, - Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve, | And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, | Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff | As dreams are made on, and our little life | Is rounded with a sleep. - Shakespeare

Welcome aboard

Welcome to the forum. It felt good for me when I stopped hiding and became an out in the open Atheist.

“It is proof of a base and low mind for one to wish to think with the masses or majority, merely because the majority is the majority. Truth does not change because it is, or is not, believed by a majority of the people.”

It feels much better when you stop banging your head against the wall.

Once you have doubts, you cant put the cat back into the bag. You can appreciate life without super heros and super villains.

It took me years to get to my atheism, and even when I was comfortable with calling myself an atheist, I still was frightened by the stigma attached to the word. But I got over that in short time after meeting people on line. I haven't looked back since.

Sounds like you come from a conservative region. Where are you from if you don't mind.

Welcome.

WELCOME!

As someone who in my lifetime has never had a belief in deities and has never been in the closet about it, I can't understand what many of you have had to go through because of it. But that is one of the many reasons I'm here, because of the wide diversity of thought on many subjects and great conversations about them. I hope you enjoy your stay here as much as I have RSayman!

I do have one qualm with your statement though:

Lemmings are disrespected all the time, and it's not fair to the little guys! The whole "Lemmings committing mass suicide with the help of gravity" is a myth created by that history raping (Pocahontas anyone?), child labor loving corporation Disney! Here's the wikipedia entry on it, which talks about the Disney nature "documentary" crew that was so bored with the little rodents, that to raise the ratings they forced them off the cliff to give the impression that they do this naturally. I mean no disrespect, but I feel obligated to defend any creatures that misunderstood, which is probably why I can never stay out of a conversation between theists or other non-atheists about atheists!

Oh, just so you know beforehand, do watch out for the resident wall o' text cut and paste bandit NoMindFascistTroll (he goes by the much less accurate title mind over matter) as his bullshit has caused quite a few brains to burst into flames from the amount of pure, unadulterated stupid he has at his disposal.

Again, I hope you enjoy your stay here as much as I have, since the conversations are always fun and interesting, there are at least a few creationists to sharpen our teeth on, and there are always babies on the BBQ... mmmmm babies... XD

Your welcome is welcomed, also welcome to you.  Lol, we really need a professional greeter, like in that catholic forum.  Some nun something or other.  I vote redneF, he has a way with words.  Also he is very tolerant and understanding Smiling

LOL.  I would love to see that tag 'Greeter'... too funny, I'm my own best comic, if you want to see if I'm kidding just look to see if I'm laughing... it's getting late.

But I digress, I hope you have fun on this forum, apparently I don't need any help in having fun.
