Apart

What fire you may see in my eyes Are but embers borrowed From the hearth of your sweet soul. And the bliss in my heart cries
Let me abide in its abode
Less the absence takes its toll. The Irony of presence while apart
Leads me to a land of dreams
Where at least I may dwell with you.Joy mixed with longing fills the heart
And mends its tattered seams
With hopes that dreams may come true.Brief moments are eternities
And days pass with but a heartbeat
But your image remains constant with me.So I shall ponder such subtleties
And wait for time and knowing to meet
That instead of your image that you may be.

Did you ever publish any of your stuff TG?
I am not much of a romantic, so this one is lost on me. But, there again, it is merely a matter of taste. You do have someone else here who did like it. So proves my point. Be yourself and write.
I liked "Nightfall".

Thats ok, at least you don't work for Fox News.
I've never had anything published other than a local poetry club collection book sale for charity. And certainly I have posted stuff on line only later to go, "What the fuck was I thinking".
Here is some irony though. Some of the ones I think are great, mine or other people's, others go "meeh" and others think are "meh" I thought were great.
You are always going to have critics and fans no matter what you do.
If what you have posted here is any indication I wouldn't be surprised if I read this poem you say you are not proud of, might be better than you think.
Why not post it here and let us have a look?
