Late intro
Hi everyone! I've been here before and made some posts, but never really introduced myself properly. I'm another "Doubter from Down Under" was brought up in a Catholic family but was never indoctrinated and was left to my own devices to determine my own world view. Needless to say, when relieved of this fear of god and then implementing rational thought processes, I inevitably became an Atheist.
I guess it kind of boiled down to a statement (I'm not sure if I have heard this before and I'm just paraphrasing),
"If there is a god, there can be NO doubt. If there is doubt, there can be NO god".
Just throwing it out there, any thoughts?

Hey, or should I say "G'day" - I'm from Brisbane...
My current thoughts would be:
"If it is certain there is a God, all else is totally uncertain, since He could change anything at a whim".
Only in confidence in the absence of such a "higher power" can we make meaningful attempts to build a body of useful knowledge, ie Science.

"Theology is now little more than a branch of human ignorance. Indeed, it is ignorance with wings." - Sam Harris
The path to Truth lies via careful study of reality, not the dreams of our fallible minds - me

Well, welcome from “up above”. I hail from the great state of Connecticut (first in flight).
As far as your basic inquiry goes, I am reminded of a scene from one of the Indiana Jones movies where a Turkish assassin said something along the lines of “I know where my soul will go when I die. Are you so certain for yours?”
As a hard atheist, I have that one down trivially.
