Darwinsbulldog says Hello! Or woof!
Formally had a mild infection of religion, but quickly lost it when I became a member of Richard Dawkins Forum. I am a member of a number of atheist/skeptic forums, but my main home is the AFA forums. My interests include science, especially biology and of course, evolution. I was what some might call a "naive realist" until I realized the intellectual bankruptcy of such a position. [eg Godel's Incompleteness Theorem and all that].
BTW, please don't conclude that my username, DB means that I subscribe to T.H. Huxley's ideas wholesale.

Welcome, Darwinsbulldog! Before I learned of the AFA forums, I seem to recall seeing your nym around before. Could have been the RD forums, not sure. Have you ever found anyone else using that username on any forums, or should I assume it's you if I remember where it was?

I remember seeing someone with the same user name on the old Yahoo message boards. When they were fun to hang out on.
Whether it is you or not, welcome. Post early and often. I am an amateur evolutionist but am far from expert.

Welcome to the forums.
DB. Most of us share your core interests, some suffered your former affliction.
G'day, and welcome
Ever read Hofstadter's book "Godel, Escher, Bach"?
That really inspired my thoughts in so many ways, not the least of which were the implications of the Incompleteness Theorem.

Whats going on with AFA?
Is there an exodus about to happen?
Only last month worldslaziestbusker from AFA forum signed up to rationalskepticism.org with a note about "... putting some effort into making sure I have a lifeboat on the davits, ready to go..." and commenting that "... any voluntary organisation runs the risk of falling apart or changing to the point where its operation lies at odds with an individual's goals, as the mien of the organisation is dependent on the behaviour of its members, not on mandates from above..."
and I stopped reading at that point coz I was all choked up with emotion.
...on account of my own fond memories of the place.
