I think too often the good folks in our little group (of atheists) want to reach an accommodation with the religious because after all, most of them are just people... moderates.
The truth is, the moderates and even the liberals benefit and ride the wave created by the lunatic fringe. Have you seen any hint of a moderate outcry over this shit? Have even the most liberal Christians rose up in arms over the Jesus camp lunacy???
