Wont be on as frequently for right now.

Blue screen o death hit the same computer my mom gave me. If anyone remembers a couple months ago, my mom gave me her old one. It worked great for a couple weeks and BOOM, so I tried to fix it but could only get it to run the original XP. Just 3 days ago once again BOOM, now the damned thing wont even boot. So I am stuck using my  mom's new one where she lives untill I can figure out how to fix the old one or buy a new one.

So don't think I have run away or anything. Just wanteded to let everyone know why I am not posting every day.

  Hi

You arent going to like the advise but I would reformat the drive and/or repair the master boot record yourself. Not something anyone likes to even think of, I understand.  But I hung with a WWII Vet who built PCs for years and years as his business for a time a few years back, and he was constantly re-formatting his machines.  A usual issue was getting XP  to recognize the "C:"drive,.  You might want to invest in a service like Carbonite where you can back up your files.  If it's too much of a pain or far more drastic for you; there things can be done to get it to boot.     Link shall at least identify the file you are looking for, if not give you enough step-by-step instructions needed to do it yourself. It all depends on the way you want to restore the GUI and/or recover the files off of XP:
