I know why people go for these kinds of things.  I checked some out myself.  When diagnosed with osteoarthritis, you are told - until the joint is so bad you can not walk, knee (or hip) replacement will be painful, but you will be able to walk afterwards - mostly.  Until then, exercise even when in pain.  So I looked for alternative therapies.  Why not?  If there was something out there, perhaps it would help.  Well, everything I found was all a waste of money.

I can imagine if you have cancer - as I know you have - or some other issue - autism, or MS, or something else that is mostly not curable with time or medicine - the temptation to search for something, anything that might help may strike many people almost overwhelmingly.  Other people are not happy with life and keep thinking they will find happiness in some sort of pill, contraption, or other CAM.  People want to live longer.  They want the best for their family.  And so on.  And they don't have the skills to research or understand what research they do come across.
