IQ2 debate live The right to bear arms is a freedom too far
I thought this might be interesting given the recent debates on the subject on these boards:
Live at 19.00 GMT tonight, free to watch online.
Is the right to bear arms an essential freedom that no government should be able to overrule? Or is it a relic from a bygone age when there were no organised police forces and weapons were slow and unwieldy, unlike today's semi-automatics that can create a bloodbath in seconds?
Tonight you can watch live online as Intelligence Squared stages its sold-out Versus debate with Google+, "The right to bear arms is a freedom too far". Defending the motion will be author Will Self and renowned American sociologist Amitai Etzioni, while upholding the essential freedom to carry a gun will be Mail on Sunday journalist Peter Hitchens and Stephen Halbrook, an attorney who has fought and won three gun-related cases in the U.S. Supreme Court.

Interesting. I'll see if I can remember to watch it.
