ABBA ROCKS!

Many people give me shit about liking them. But, even before I rediscovered them, another fan obviously with money to pay royalties, started Waterloo Radio a Facebook Radio Station, before I even knew it existed.

Anywho, early last week I suggested they have a rock segment of originals by ABBA that were rock and heavy, and remakes from future artists. Little did I know how many people were influenced on the rock side of ABBA.

"Watch Out" is an original which could have been preformed by KISS and not ABBA.

But I have heard metal versions of "Knowing Me Knowing You" and just now a punk/AC DC mix version of "Super Trouper"

So screw all you guys that give ABBA lip. They have influenced all sorts of music lovers from country to bluegrass to dance to classical and METAL!

I AM ON AN ABBA JIHAD!

I found a link, and MIND

I found a link, and MIND YOU, I knew the name "Yngwie Malmsteen" long before my reunion with ABBA this past year, meaning re discovering them.

Here is the METAL  version of the ABBA song by metal great  Yngwie Malmsteen "Gimme Gimme Gimme"

People talking smack about Abba (what a world):

www.landoverbaptist.net › Aug 6, 2010

Quote from the Senior Staffer at their forum writes :: ''Men shall hate us, yes men shall hate us and call us evil ''

I knew sooner or later  'they' (the cultists) would go TOO DARN far!!  Landoverbaptist Church in the years 2008 and 2010 comparing the band with the torments of Hell, NO WORSE as a torment of Hell! Are you going to lie there and do nothing ?!?  Maybe it's me but have you ever noticed people talk smack on particular years ?   What  the  H3LL ?!??   According to Google results, in the year 2008  people  started talking Smack about the band Abba (the most in the years of 2010 and 2008).  Why ? I couldnt tell you. Or was that the year the former drummer of the band mysteriously had died ? A couple years after, I COULDN'T tell you. The author, no kidding you (in any way) writes and even invites :   You to  Contact me (Pastor-Ezekiel, smack talker) privately at PastorEzekiel@landoverbaptist.net  Keep people apprised

Woo Hoo, Drop that dime (smile)

I like ABBA - and this version is great.

are there really that many

are there really that many people who care one way or the other if you like abba?  are there actually people on this site giving you shit over it?  because by my count most people here are indifferent.

do you think the people who gave you shit about it 30 years ago are reading these threads?

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."

If you don't give a shit, it is funny that you went out of your way to respond. Usually when I am indifferent about something I don't bother responding to it.

Oh and they are so lost in time this top current artist has to worry about competing with that washed up Agnetha(the blond)

I'd also say they wouldn't build a museum dedicated to the band in their home country if they thought there would be no interest.

I'd say quite a few people still care. You don't, so?

i don't give two shits about

i don't give two shits about your musical tastes, i'm just wondering why you keep making these defiant threads when it seems there's no one around here to defy.

Is that what you think I am doing?Look the fact that you keep responding is free advertisement. Even if they don't click on the thread the word "ABBA" makes it to the "recent posts. Not to mention it is my avatar on all the major websites I like. So keep responding.

You don't like what I am doing, that is all it amounts to. And you already tried to paint ABBA out to be irrelevant and when I posted all those links of other fans and the solo Career of Agnetha that is doing well, and ABBA gold also making a comeback, you responded with this. So you are giving me by your own words something to be "defiant" about.

Just say you don't like them and call it a day.

He never said he didn't like

He never said he didn't like it nor implied anything similar. He simply ASKED what the point was in making up an opponent of your love for ABBA, given that many others also love them and not a single person has attacked them. It's a valid question which hardly justifies the excessively aggressive response and denunciation you gave him. You really need a vacation. Take some time off work where these dickheads are constantly teasing you for listening to good music. And tell them all the day you leave that music died in the 80's and their shit is just noise.

Hi - Could someone please

Hi - Could someone please tell me how to embed a video into my posts please?  At the moment I'm clicking 'flash' on toolbar and pasting in to URL the details of video and nothing happens.  I just get a line and in the preview of my post I just get a blank square. Many thanks.

Oh, but Peggotty, you haven't given Mr. Barkis his proper answer, you know.

Thanks x. Put embed code into 'source' and the video was there in the 'preview comment' but not when I posted it.  Must be doing something wrong.

When copying the embed code make sure you select the "use old embed code" option. The code should begin with "<object" not "<iframe". Also sometimes when you first make a post videos will not show up properly. If you push F5 it will refresh the browser and the video should be there.

Ok, has anyone here heard of or like the "Foo Fighters". I have heard the name but never listened to a song of theirs or album.

BUT, for those who think that ABBA has no inspiration to modern music.

You have probably heard a few of their songs without realizing it, they have been pretty popular on rock, pop and top 40 stations. This one received a lot of radio play.

And you probably have come across this one.

Probably another band you can add to the long list of bands better than Abba. Although, I don't think I have ever heard anyone claim that Abba hasn't provided inspiration for modern music...

I had heard of the Foo Fighters, but in all honesty, I haven't listened to any top 40 stations in years and have never run into those songs.
