Before New Jersey Governor Chris Christie addressed his constituents in his State of the State address on Tuesday, residents discussed the issues they hoped would be included in the speech using the hashtag #TellMeChristie.
News site NJ.com started the conversation:
- Some wanted answers from Christie on "Bridgegate," the scandal involving his aides purposely creating traffic problems on the George Washington Bridge. The move aimed to punish the Mayor of Ft. Lee, a city just off the bridge, for refusing to endorse Christie's campaign.Another felt the traffic scandal was distracting New Jersey residents from more substantive problems facing the state.
- Several took Christie to task for allegations he used taxpayer-funded disaster aid to pay for a marketing campaign called "Stronger than the Storm." Federal auditors are currentlyinvestigating the claims. The ads featured Christie and his family and ran during his reelection campaign in 2013.Gov. Christie's approval rating among New Jersey residents dropped six points in the past month, largely due to "Bridgegate," but still stands at a high 59%.
