Vancouver Island fisherman Dan Dunbar noticed something was wrong when he spotted a young bald eagle floundering in the water near Nanoose Bay, British Columbia.
In the video posted on YouTube on Saturday,” the exhausted eagle appears to swim toward Dunbar’s boat before being scooped with a fishing net.
“You’re the most unusual fishing partner I’ve ever had. But you’re probably better at that than me though.” Dunbar says to the bird.
The bird was taken to Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society (OWL) in Delta, B.C. where staff determined that it was severely malnourished and was suffering from a throat infection.
