A question for Canadians

I just got in a discussion at work about a Canadian who was apparently arrested and then given hard labor for one year because he criticized the Qua ran while riding on a subway.

The discussion went that the laws in Canada do not allow people to criticize other religions and that there is no free speech in Canada.

The entire story went south after I heard this and I ended up leaving the room thinking that they were crackheads.

I searched the web and I could find nothing of the sort through Google.

So I put it to you, any of you, to make sense of this story.

Thx

Sounds like a load of B.S. to me. Probably from a couple of Faux News fans. There is no "hard labor" in Canada, you do time or you do not do time; that simple. Our prison system is down right passive compared to American prisons. We have free speech so good that not only can we criticize Christians but Muslim's can also criticize Christians. Just jokeing, maybe they were crackheads.

"Very funny Scotty; now beam down our clothes."

I have no reason not to pull punches with this idiots. They are crack heads and as I listened to them speak all these bells and whistles started going off. I kept quiet and let them speak and when they were done I told them "no way, you are nuts, that never happened". They then claimed that their husband was from Canada (which he is) and that he gets news articles from Canada to keep himself up on things. I said, "no way, never happened, I don't care who said what, it never happened". This of course went on for about five minutes and they tried to tell me that "hey I lived in Canada, I know what it is like up there".

Total idiots.

Pure bs. There is no

Pure bs. There is no division of the justice system which deals with any forced labour of any kind, and if simple criticism of any facet of religion were any crime I would be in prison right now.

Other crimes included, but Canada does have laws against 'hate speech', they  have mostly been used against white supremecists who advocate genocide or forced segregation. But no "hard labor".

Thanks for finding it. I thought it might be a made up story, but I knew it it was real then it was an issue of one person inciting others.
