Do you realize what a medical research lab could do with that kind of funds? But the fundies (pun intended) would rather spread a bad lie than try and find a way to ease human suffering.

Not only is the whole thing pathetic and sickening, but extremely hypocritical, even for christians. These people call themselves bible literalists, and yet they somehow missed all of the passages that might direct them to use $27 million a bit more wisely. Clothe the naked? Feed the hungry? Shelter the homeless? Nah, let's build an ostentatious pile of crap that provides no real benefit to anybody except inflating the sense of self-importance experienced by the builders. I hope the the whole thing gets wiped out by a tornado.

The thing is (sad as this may be), the way they see it, we need to pray and give ourselves to God as suffering is caused by sin and we must repent.  Not dedicate money to curing disease and eliminate early death from a lot of areas.  NO, must pray..

This is some of the main issues I have with religion.  Goes to the stem cell concept.  We would rather stop progress of humanity to pray to the sky daddy so that all can be well, when the money thats dedicated to this shit (such as these abominations) could be given to good causes.  The sad thing is, most of these people who give all this money will never see how wasteful it is.

I was proud to see England had a high atheism rate, until I saw what Tony Blair was doing with education.

He was/is letting people with shit loads of money build schools (which in theory is a great altruistic gesture) but then he lets them dictate the f_ing curriculum.

Now due to one very rich and retarded car salesman, creationist schools are popping up everywhere.

I'm not sure what Maddox is getting at when he deems the creators (no pun) "heroic" in their efforts, but he does a fine job exposing the idiocy. 

Well, this is just a little rant regarding the amount of money spent to build a temple of lies.  The creation museum costs about an average of 27 million dollars to build.  What irks me about this is the simple fact that religious leaders and churches have waaaay too much disposable income.  First off, churches are tax exempt so any money made, well...is money made.  Now, this leads me to the issue of altruism and church's morality.  It seems a bit peculiar that religious leaders would rather spend money on a "museum" rather than, say, feed the homeless.  What this does is put in question the very morality of the church and its religious leaders, in this case the evangelical fundamentalists.  It seems as if the goal of evangelicals is not, in fact, help other people, but persuade other people to join them.  Well...seems cultish? Well it is...a cult with a bit more disposable income. 

 I find it extremely hypocritical for the religious right (fundamentalists) to call us atheists immoral when they are throwing away 27 million dollars on a building, that is, above anything else, a false temple of lies.  Since when does god want temples built?  Where does it say in the bible...thou shalt build a museum where dinosaurs are shown playing with children?  Wouldn't it behoove a christian who truly believes in the goodness of god and his/her religion to spend that money on feeding the homeless, or building houses of refuge for battered and abused women?  No...what these guys do is spend 27 million dollars on a building with animatronic dinosaurs...to show how the young the earth is.  Never mind the power of god...obviously it's the power of money that persuades people to believe.  These people are nothing but heads of cults who would rather turn a profit and enslave the minds of our youth in order to achieve their fascist goal of theocracy.  They want to rule..they are lusting power and money and control.  This is what these people truly want.  It is disgusting.  Imagine a world where science is no longer based on empircal evidence, but on faith.     

Imagine that.....  pray that the cancer will subside....pray that malaria will disappear....pray that HIV will be intelligently designed to help us instead of killing us.  Ah..who cares so long as the Pat Robertsons and the Jerry Fallwells are fat and rich.  And those in the middle, the moderates..you are to blame as much for this as the rest of the fundies because your ideologies allow for this to happen and you sit idly by ignoring it.    This is indeed scary.
