Open your womb, God is crazy horny.

Anyone see this?

While I don't begrudge anyone having as many children as they want, I would find this disturbing if these families are on public assistance.
The reasoning behind their choice of a large family is taken from Babblical passages, (anti-contraception being one reason, but I have yet to find any passage that deals with that subject) without any regard to how the existing children may feel about having to share, what has to be, depletion of the family resources. (money, food, clothing, time)
Sort of brings up images in your mind of large canine litters with the runt fighting for every last scrap of food.

Like this world doesn't have enough problems. Now we get folks taking "Be fruitful and multiply" as a personal challenge.

Psalm 127:
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them.
Well, there it is. They are only following the words of the bible. Now let's see if they follow Deuteronomy 21:18-21.
And break the arrows in their quiver?
A woman can supply just so many arrows.
Sing along everybody, "Every sperm is sacred. Every sperm is great. If a sperm gets wasted, God gets quite irrate."
At least they don't keep contraceptives from starving people in Africa when the HIV rate is skyrocketing....oh, wait....
Enjoy having that song in your head for the rest of the day. You're welcome.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth;
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth!
- Eric Idle, from The Galaxy Song
I already have it on my itunes!
If these folks had this houseful of kids because (1) they are gazillionaires and can truly afford it or (2) these are foster children AND they are able to adequately care for all of them without relying on others to help them, I say "Go for it!"
However, it is my belief that having this many children in this day and age is truly irresponsible. Can two adults adequately care for (and home-school) this many children? Let's talk health insurance. Let's talk how much it costs to feed and clothe this many kids. Let's talk about not "using" the older kids to help raise the younger kids.

Exactly where I was going when I posted this Susan, however, you managed to say it more eloquently.
Good work, as usual.
Thanks for the kind words, Razor.
I wonder if perhaps some pulpit-pounders think that exceedingly large families are a possible way of forcing their line of belief to become a majority belief; taking over by sheer numbers. I guess it would be a way to increase the congregation.
Assuming public assistance, it's a form of socialism. Those of us that work our butts off and do not have a gaggle of kids are forced to support those that cannot support a hoard of children, yet keep having them.
