Corruption and Communists have always gone hand in hand. Hopefully the Poles will start to have some doubt in the church. Unfortunately, Poland is extremely Catholic: around 95% of people there call themselves Catholic last time I checked. Jan Pawel is their hero, but that doesn't mean the church is.
The Enlightenment wounded the beast, but the killing blow has yet to land...
