I AM a fundamentalist.

I am a fundamentalist. A fundamentalist about the Truth. And atheism is something I feel to be true. Read more, I believe this characterizes me:

"I am a truth fundamentalist. I believe that the truth is superior to error, that the truth should be pursued above all things, and that we should uncompromisingly defend the truth once we have discovered it (and it can be discovered, though not everyone who thinks they have done so is correct). I am unapologetic about this position. This places me in contrast to people who apparently feel that other values, such as not hurting people's feelings, take precedence over the truth. I am proud not to be among those people. Since I believe atheism is among the catalogue of true things, I will defend it. If anyone believes I am wrong, they're welcome to take their best shot and offer whatever evidence they have that contradicts me, and I will gladly engage them. But I will never bow to those who illogically embrace contradictory positions as equally plausible and valid, and who think that, by mutual consent, we should abandon our quest to seek the truth." - taken from the Daylight Atheism blog

I honestly think we can embrace the term "fundamentalist" in this sense. I am proud to be fundamental about what I believe to be true.

It invites (bear with me,

It invites (bear with me, I'm relatively new to ID'ing fallacies) a fallacy of accent. I'd rather not embrace a word that's inapplicable, and is known in the mainstream to represent the opposite of that with which most atheists would want to identify. Sorry, I just think it muddies the waters.

I'm not sure if anyone is

I'm not sure if anyone is capable of finding the "real" truth.  However, I think atheism is the best step towards that goal.

I would say that the best tool set for finding out the nature of reality is the scientific method, rational thinking, being aware of the history of ideas, human bias, and psychology.   I think that one of the best conclusions is the position that there is not sufficient evidence or reason to believe in a god, but this is a result of this tool set, not the starting point.

I just wanted to clarify, for my own perspective, that atheism is not something I start with, but simply a working underlying conclusion.  Metaphysical naturalism is the worldview I employ, and that worldview includes the lack of gods or any supernatural reality.

I am not sure if i want to call myself a fundamentalist, but I'm surely interested in finding out things that are true.

I'll fight for a person's right to speak so long as that person will, in return, fight to allow me to challenge their opinions and ridicule them as the content of their ideas merit.

I am a "thought"

I am a "thought" fundamentalist and I am an "enlightenment" fundamentalist.

I don't think you can go wrong being those types of fundamentalists.
