The shroud of turin

Did anyone hear any new "scientific" info on the shroud of turin?

A co-worker today mentioned he recently saw a PBS special discussing that the orginial carbon dating results were contaminated and the new results confirm that it was of 1st century origin.

I havent heard anything.  I read a book not too long ago called "The Second Messiah" that claimed the shroud contains the image of Jacque De Molay(sp?), the last leader of the Knights Templar

"The powerful have always created false images of the weak."

Searching through PBS, I found this.  There is one person interviewed who "proves" that it's from the mid-first century. Nothing even relatively conclusive, and it isn't carbon dating that proves it. There is more attempts at dating it, but the "proof" this is truly from the first century and the Shroud of Christ comes from a weaver named Mechthild Flury-Lemberg. She says that, in her opinion, it displays weaving techniques used by people in that area and at that time.

However,  this site has a whole bunch of refutations of this whole thing.
